The Tanners Arms ale house features six handpulls which carry all-local real ales, judiciously chosen, fastidiously kept and a pleasure to sup; a good selection of whiskies to warm and revive every palate; regular live music sessions of all varieties; the most eclectic jukebox in Northumberland; and most important of all, a friendly, laid-back environment full of good crack and camaraderie. A good old-fashioned English pub, and a pleasant spot to while away an evening…

The Tanners has undergone many-a-change, usually maintaining good standards of drinking and not changing the interior too much from its essential character. However under the current regime, the ales are exceedingly good while the musical entertainment is also an excellent attraction. They also maintain good order in their residential spot, no late noise, unruliness, or littering. Keep up the great... More

Super, single bar pub with an excellent selection of real ales. Friendly landlord - my border collie was particularly appreciative of the attention he received - looking forward to my next visit.

Good selection of real ales, characterful pub. Have a meal round the corner at Cafe Tirreno (not a food pub here unfortunately) and then settle in for the evening by fireplace.

A Great selection of ales to suit the most discerning of palates. Visitors exchange banter with locals in this friendly establishment & the bar staff certainly know their beer. If you enjoy a single malt the whisky selection is a real who's who in Scottish distilling. Definitely worth a visit when in town.

Had a great night in the Tanner's Arms. Live music from a variety of musicians and singers-all very talented. Friendly atmosphere and we were well looked after by a lovely man and his collie dog.Sorry, can't remember his name. Most impressed by the standard of all those who had their spot at the mike, but especially impressed by the young guitarist... More

Spotlessly clean, dog friendly pub. Very good selection of well kept ales. This along with good atmosphere and friendly staff makes it a highly recommended pub to visit.

Many of the pubs in Alnwick focus on providing meals and food. The tanners Arms is just a nice quirky traditional Pub. Welcoming, nice beer etc and with a great jukebox.

Walked by this pub Thursday afternoon and saw the signs for an open mike night. Went in and it was packed. A few people sung and they were very good. One lady sang and played guitar and she was very good especially her rendition of 'Lilac Wine'. Loved it. Then a band called Dagmar Mason came on and they were... More
