I decided to take my dogs for a walk and found this little beauty.Although it is not the longest of walks i was genuinely surprised at just how pretty it was...passing the River Nene a lot of the way,as some sailing activities took place. The walk took me about an hour and took me across a few bridges following a track until finally ending up at Islip. The walk encourages well behaved dogs and responsible owners. There are varied forms of wildlife,i spotted some Red Kites. There is a large car park just off the Green Lane in Thrapston.A highly enjoyable walk.

This is a beautiful way to while away the hours, on your own or with a dog.
As you walk round there are hides that you can go in and watch the birds skim the water.
There are a few benches that you can take a break in if required.

This short walk is more often than not a peaceful one. The road up to the yacht club is a little tricky when on a cycle, owing to the numerous pot holes, but pleasant all the same.

We have been walking around Thrapston lake for many years, it was a glorious walk in any season of the year. Therefore it is unfortunate and a great shame that two sets of gates have been erected along the footpath surrounding the lake thereby preventing people from walking around the lake and preventing access to the loveliest part at the far end.
It was done during the summer so there were few people about to object.it would be interesting to know why it was felt necessary to install the gates.

It was a cold winters day but dry so the going was good and not too muddy. The paths are clear and there's lots of wildlife to spot and enjoy as you amble round the lakes.
Lots more paths to explore on our next visit ...

Walking between Thrapston and Islip is such a pleasure. Lovely old buildings and structures and awesome views across the river. Do remember to take a decent camera especially if you want to capture amazing pics at sunset.

We really enjoyed our 2 lakeside walks here. The birdlife was plentiful and varies and the somewhat muddy path encircling one of the larger lakes gave one a sense of achievement. We covered the 4 mile route around the lake from the Woolpack Inn in just over an hour including stops for photos.

Pleasant little walk which luckily ends up going into Islip via the garden of the Rose and Crown Pub in Islip. Friendly little pub with good beers and dogs welcome, easy to walk, nice river and mooring views and can extend along the river to take in the lakes between Islip and Wadenhoe.

We didn't think that we would do this walk, but did it in search of somewhere to eat. Lovely scenery!
