About
Wicksteed Park was founded in 1921 as part of the extraordinary legacy of Charles Wicksteed and is the oldest Theme Park on mainland UK. Today, families can still come and enjoy our beautiful park and gardens, but also enjoy a fun-filled day out on the rides and attractions! Stay the night in our cosy campsite, wander round our woods, or jump aboard the UK’s most popular narrow gauge railway – there’s more to do than you can shake a shilling at!

Wicksteed Magical Adventure
Nov 2021 • Family
Visited Wicksteed Magical Adventure this weekend.
Children had a wonderful time - enjoyed every moment (surprising considering how cold it was!!).
Nicely put together experience. Music, Elves, Storytime, reindeers, activities and games - and of course a visit to the big man himself.

And of course opportunity to ride the train and rides.

What made this worthy of review though(I very rarely review) was the excellent elf Trixie (c) with the orange hair - she put so much effort into being a jolly cheerful helpful elf. Amazing with the kids of all ages encouraging and sweet - made every moment a joy. Honestly she made this the best Santa visit / experience we have done with our little ones. She deserves the highest praise and is a credit to Wicksteed.

Enjoyable Birthday Day Out
Aug 2021
My family and I have enjoyed our visits to the park over many years. My eldest daughter regularly enjoys her birthday celebrations here with the family. We love being able to drive to an open grass area and set up our awning, chairs and tables for our picnic lunch. The park is well maintained and we look forward to many more visits in the future.

Fun autumn afternoon
Oct 2021 • Family
A fun afternoon with my son and daughter and the grandchildren. It was moderately busy but the queues were short for the rides that were open and to be honest the grandkids just wanted to play in the park. They did enjoy the train ride though

The only negative point was the burger stall despite being no busier than any other food concession the service was shocking and when I finally got it the chips were lukewarm and the burger also seemed to have been about a bit. Whilst the two lad were pleasant they didn’t seems to be motivated or organised. Compare to the fish snd chips where the queue and service went quickly

Overall a great day out reasonably priced and yes we would go back

A total waste of time
Oct 2021 • Friends
A total waste of time.

Half the park is shut, all of the rollercoasters are closed, no zip wire, no climbing wall.

£20 worth of tickets and NOTHING AT ALL for a ten year old. Tickets non-refundable. Don’t waste your day unless your children are under 4

Great autumn day out
Oct 2021 • Family
For £44 for a family of 4 with wrist bands this was a bargain . Admittedly a lot was closed and 2022 is promising a lot , but what we got was really good

Two middle aged parents , a nearly 13 year old and a 10 year old spent nearly 5 hours going down slides , on the train twice , going on the fairground slides countless times , not to mention crawling along trees and visiting a few meerkats and walking around .

Great cakes in the eating place - in fact seriously good !

Bargain day out and lots of fun !

VITAL YOU READ BEFORE BOOKING FIREWORKS 2021
Oct 2021 • Family
We bought family tickets online expecting a smooth experience on the night. However, after ringing them I was told...when we get there we are expected to go to the ticket office and queue for our tickets!!!!! WHAT PLANET DOES THIS BUSINESS COME FROM!!!...They have taken my money quick enough.. we've shown loyalty by pre-booking and are rewarded by trying to keep young excited children occupied in a long queue on a chilly November eve whilst others who pay at the gate are free from this inconvenience and can just get on with their evening I honestly can't believe it.

Wicksteed at War revive
Sep 2021
So pleased that this event was back this year and I thought it was better than ever. All to often these events can be all about money making, but I didn’t feel this at all. Loved seeing all of the military vehicles and everyone dressed up. Fascinating learning about the equipment and machinery on display. I know some people missed the arena this year, but I actually preferred it without. Only annoying thing was the lack of paying stations. There were signs to ping via an app, but on opening it at the end of our visit it seemed as though you paid first, rather than at the end - possibly me not using it correctly.

Pleasant and enjoyable, but where's my rowing?
Jul 2021 • Family
We visited in the summer. My wife and girls did not mention anything bad about the toilets as I have seen other people mention.

We got on about 10 rides I think but admittedly didn't arrive until 11.30-12.00

I did miss the go karts not being there. The kids were disappointed. Hopefully this will be rectified for 2022. I also missed my annual row on the boating lake. 2 excellent rides.

But to be honest everything else was there and the staff were generally pretty helpful.

I think it was worth the admission price and I'm only too happy to keep Wicksteed going for future generations. There is a magic there and I will be back next year when I hope to see these 2 crucial activities resumed.

I have been using the water chute and the rides in the park for the last 40 years and pray all the financial issues will be resolved. I think some of the reviews are a little unfair and maybe a bit unrealistic in the current COVID environment.

Fab family fun day out
Sep 2021
Date of visit: Saturday 4th September 2021

LAYOUT
Set in 147 acres of beautiful park land Wicksteed has a lot of offer. The upper section of the park, which has the car parks surrounding it, has a pavilion, a play park, and lots of smaller kid’s rides. In the middle is a lot of open grass land. At the bottom you have a large man-made lake. To the right you have the thrill seeker rides and off to the left of the lake are some water based attractions.

RIDES & ATTRACTIONS
There are 3 areas with in the park where you will find the paid attractions. The top section of the park is where all the smaller rides are such as tea cups, a small kiddie coaster and things like soft play. On the bottom right of the park is the Thrill seeker zone which a decent sized family coaster, dodgems and a log flume to name a few. The last section is the Splash Zone which has the UK’s oldest Water Chute and a vintage Car ride.

There are plenty of non-ride attractions too – we saw various playparks and a large sandpit. There are some meerkats, goats and a nice aviary (these are chargeable attractions). They have a mini golf course and one of the largest Astro Slides I have ever seen. Something that we hadn’t seen before was little mini Land Rovers that kids could drive around a course in. Unfortunately, they only had 2 running and the queue was long.

There are plenty of things to for all ages.

FOOD & BEVERAGES
We didn’t eat any of the food available at the park on our visit as we took a picnic. However, I did see a number of people buying and it looked and smelt really good.
The only thing we did buy was some ice cream from the small on site shop they have. I t was £6 for 2 tubs (£2 a scoop). We did enjoy them however felt they were on the expensive side for the potion size.

OVERALL
We were only expecting to spending 4-5 hours here and ended up spending 7 hours. The park is really pretty and you could spend hours just walking around the various paths. Our main reason to visit was to get the coaster credits (we got all 3) and ride the water chute which unfortunately was closed.
We would certainly go again as we had such a fun day.

Great fun had by all!
Sep 2021 • Family
Had a great day out here with 7 and 9 year old. Purchased wristbands, these were great value as we went on loads of rides multiple times. Was pleasantly busy but didn't have to queue other than a short queue for the log flume. Have been previously, and although the park is clearly in a state of change, with some parts closed with a view to redevelopment, we had just as good a time as previously. There are plenty of rides open for a good day out. Toilets were fine, paper and soap readily available. Enjoyed the new ride- Galaxy Invader- which is a new ride this season, as well as all the old favourites. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. It's great to see Wicksteed open again and I hope it goes on to flourish. We'll definitely visit again!
