Called here for the annual act of remembrance. A well preserved cenotaph in manicured gardens at the Alfred East gallery. The walls have the names of the fallen during the great wars.

A real somber and thought provoking monument.

Food for Thought

In a small courtyard next to the Alfred East Art Gallery we saw this very sober limestone war memorial dating from 1921. It is the work of local architect John Alfred Gotch (1852-1942), who also designed the Art Gallery (1913). Panels on the outer wall of the gallery list the names of the fallen. After the Second World, a new inscription and more name were added. The only decorative element used is a high relief of a wreath suspended from a ribbon.

"We Will Remember Them"

See along side the Alfred East Art Gallery in Sheep Street Kettering, in a quiet corner of a Town Centre garden with well trimmed box hedges and floral beds stands Kettering's Memorial to the Fallen of World Wars. Their names carved in stone tablets on the wall of the Gallery.
I was proud to stand with the fine citizens of Kettering on the 11 day of the 11 month in silent tribute and pay my respects to the fallen of All Wars.A place in the centre of town fro a moment or two of quiet reflection in a garden expertly maintained by our Boroughs Gardeners

Should visit if in Kettering

Yes this stands outside the Art Gallery and is set in a small and peaceful park.
Any visit to a place like this can be an emotional experience and this is no exception as the fallen from Kettering are named on the wall.

A lovely place to go, and pay your respects to those who fell, during the conflicts. The wall next to it, has the fallen from Kettering, named. A fitting tribute to those men. I would recommend all visit.
