An interesting gallery, half dedicated to Alfred East R.A. and Gotch and the preraphealites and the remained an eclectic collection of local interests and artists. There is an interesting museum round the corner particularly dedicated to the history of the shoe industry.

The gallery is a real hidden gem within the borough of Kettering / Northamptonshire and definitely worth a visit. I visited the Prints Charming exhibition which exhibits and sells prints of the main collection. There are many event hosted throughout the year and i will definitely be returning.

This little gallery punches way above its weight. Exhibits are always changing and there is always something new to see. It’s not too big so it doesn’t take half your day to see. Friendly and helpful staff top the venue off. Highly recommended.

Apart from canvases by East, there are displays of other notable Kettering artists: Gotch, Jowett, Gash and others. Regular contemporary exhibitions show the prodigious talent of local working artists at prices within most peoples' budgets. Both East and Gotch have works exhibited at the Tate.

This gallery is just the right size for enjoyment of the art displayed, it is not too big so all the exhibits can be viewed without feeling overwhelmed. The guide booklet listed the exhibits clearly and there were helpful descriptions on the walls too, with information on the artists and some of the subjects. I went with my husband who is more "into" art than me, but I found the whole exhibition fascinating and I'm glad I travelled there from Nottingham for it.

I took a day trip to Kettering, and this art gallery was on my list of ‘must visits’. I had the imprssion the collection was going to be much larger. There was an interesting collection of Alfred East’s engravings but the temporary exhibition of two artists was quite dark and depressing. The best image in the gallery was a painting by Alfred East of Autumn in Gloucestershire. It was lovely and bright and set off well in a large gold frame. It would have been good to see more colour paintings by this artist.

Lovely permanent exhibits and changing exhibitions as well. Well worth a visit, indeed, several visits each time the exhibitions change.
