Walking along Sheep Street you come to a building that declares that it is the local library. It's not. fortunately there are directions leading you round the building to the new building which is behind the old one.

The new building is much more user friendly for all than the old one would have been. There is a ramp to the building along with automatic doors. The books and reference area are all on one floor and there is a toilet for disabled people and another for everyone else. There is also an area with PC's that you can use for reference or to surf the internet.

The library is clean and tidy and well presented. Handy for anyone who needs to know more.

Used this library for the first time the other day and it really hit home....if we don't use these great facilities then we are likely to loose them. The place is full of great reading, access to the internet and a great place to just kick back, relax in the cool and read a book or a newspaper. Let's face it, where else can you get access to so much for so little these days? The staff were very helpful as well so go on, get down to this great library and take advantage of free book rental.

A great place to come with children, or just for a read yourself.
This library offers activities for young children and toddlers, and is often hosting other events.
There is plenty of space here, so you dont feel like you're over crowded. There are also educational items for sale here.
Helpful staff and a lovely environment.
Its always been here and has definitely moved with the times over the years, but still maintains whats important for libraries.

It has been years since I have visited the library. Popped in and it actually hasn't changed much. It has the same smell that I remember from years ago. Very friendly staff and has a book about anything you request.

Built in 1904, with funds given by Andrew Carnegie, who also gave his name to the famous concert hall in New York, USA., and he came to Kettering to personally open the Library. When it was opened it was called The jewelled casket of learning. It has not changed much over the years, so has the Architectural air of the early 1900's. It has a good selection of material on Kettering, and Northamptonshire in general. Well worth a visit.

This is a great library to go and get books from. The staff there are really friendly and its good for kids as well. They do a good selection of books and the building itself is architecturally impressive. I would at least put this on par with Northampton Central Library if not slightly better.

It was lovely to step back in time and revisit Kettering Library. It still has all the charm that I remember from my childhood. Easy to navigate and helpful staff, no sense of anyone being hurried through, you were welcome to stay as long as you pleased.
