Wanted to see ‘new’ museum in any event - it is most impressive. Additionally, on arrival I enquired if anyone could help me with a bit of background on a particular soldier who died in Flanders as I was to visit his grave. They were...More
Regimental Museums are highlights of my visits to the UK. The Green Howards Museum proved to be a worthwhile visit covering their 300 plus year history quire well. The displays are well lit, but often the accompanying explanatory text is a bit of a distance...More
I've lived in and around Richmond for decades and somehow had never made it through the doors of the Green Howards Museum. Somehow I just assumed it would be rather specialist and perhaps a bit dull. However I had 45 minutes to kill whilst waiting...More

Many thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review - we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Those who are interested in military history will love this place. We have been here several times and it still interests us even though our family history connects with other regiments.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Not the first time visiting but it is such an interesting place once is never enough. Love the personal touch with letters to and from loved ones. Information and videos are excellent as you feel part of the history. Will certainly be visiting again.

Very well organised little museum and a great selection of items in tribute to the Green Howards. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The Medals Room was incredible. A must see if you happen to be in the beautiful Richmond for a day trip.

The perfect review! Thanks for taking the time to post - we really appreciate it.
It's been decades since I last visited, & the Museum has come on leaps & bounds. The prompt for my return journey was that my father (still with us at 97) is now featured on one of the storyboards. His service in World War II...More

Many thanks for the positive review, it really helps encourage others to visit us and understand more about those key moments in history, told through the personal stories of those who served. We will look into the fridge magnet situation...
I took a second cousin to look into her father's service with The Green Howard's in WW2 and cannot praise the staff highly enough for their time and approachability. Steve a curator at the museum added a lot of colour to the records we took...More

Hello. The circular design on the floor in the centre of the 'Heart of the Regiment' area features both a Green Howards cap badge and a Yorkshire Regiment cap badge. This is to acknowledge the new regiment that The Green Howards became part of in 2006. We also have a Yorkshire Regiment case in our 'Modern Times' gallery. The floor graphic lists all the Battle Honours as well as showing places around the world that the regiment has been involved.
