Neither Welcoming Nor Encouraging!
Jul 2020 • Couples
Went in to enquire where we could walk our dogs locally to be told that there's a campaign to discourage dogs. We appreciate that sheep have to be safeguarded but the Lake District manages to welcome dogwalkers! After the Covid 19 outbreak, you'd think a local Tourist Information Office would welcome visitors back. We promptly left Northallerton, taking our money elsewhere!

Mine of Information

Slightly hidden off the High St this information centre is manned by volunteers who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It is uprising just how much there is to see in Northallerton and this is the place to start!

Help and advice

Lovely ladies on duty who were very helpful and copied a timetable that was their only copy. Had a nice chat and would recommend their service.

Where oh where are you

This place is appallingly signed posted and impossible to find. It is very frustrating place to locate.

Friendly Staff
Jun 2018 • Couples
Visited Northallerton Tourist Information Centre as we were staying in the area and wanted some information about places to visit. Friendly welcoming staff who helped us find what we wanted.

Located just outside the main area next to a large pay & display car park so ideal location but can be missed if you are not sure it is there.

Friendly and Helpful
Mar 2018
Ran by volunteers with a wealth of local knowledge of Northallerton and surrounding areas. I have visited several times and been greeted by friendly, helpful people. Situated in the Applegarth car park it is convenient for visitors to the town to drop in.

Good little place
Aug 2017 • Friends
This is a good little place and staff are helpful. There are plenty of leaflets of the local area and places that are a bit further a field. They also sell some second hand books as well. It's well worth a look if you are nearby.

A quaint little tourist information centre
Jul 2017 • Couples
This is a quaint little tourist information centre based in the applegarth behind all the shops but next to the main car park. It has a vast amount of leaflets and booklets of the many things to see and do around the region. I believe it's run by volunteers and when we have visited they have always been friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Open one day a week in winter
Nov 2016 • Couples
In November this seems to be open only on Tuesdays - not much use if, like us, you visit on other days. Apparently it is staffed by volunteers, so perhaps we shouldn't criticise, but nevertheless it's not much use when it's closed.

Summer assistance
Aug 2016 • Solo
This is a small tourist information centre, open for only part of the year. It's manned by volunteers. The staff I met were very helpful and friendly. There is a good selection of brochures and leaflets, plus information on walks and activities in and around the town, and in the region.

Worth popping in for inspiration, information or guidance if you do not know the area well or unsure how to spend your time here.

It's positioned behind the high street (you can reach it through the arcade alley down the side of Bakers department store). Check for opening times online.
