There are not many chances to view rope being made so take some time and make a visit. The long rope room at the rear is really interesting.

Interesting to watch the rope making machines in operation, especially one making yellow braided rope with red flecks in it.

I'm a student of sorts of rope and net making... seriously. Finding the ropemakers in Hawes was a surprise. We found a mostly automated and modernized production of synthetic material accompanied by signage. Interesting but not overly so.

A glimpse into the black art of rope making. Lots to see for old and young alike. Just on the edge of hawes.

The Ropemakers is a fascinating place to see the rope being made.To see the different type of rope,it's uses and them being made on the bobbins is interesting. However it would have been good to see more written information on the history of rope making.
