Big lad.

Standing 12 feet high, this rugged, weather worn angler, stands gazing out to sea. Whilst he's not wearing waders, there appears to be nothing short, about the size of his wellies. He is one of many similar fitting tributes, all magnificent to look at and providing a decent living for sculptors around the land.

Fishermen statue
Aug 2021
A nice statue commemorating the Filey fishermen but its placement leave a little to be desired as I originally thought it was part of the adjacent crazy golf pitch. There is a nearby RNLI shop and boat house and I would have thought placing it nearer to either off them would be better. Still the promenade is nice in good weather although there is not much around in respect to shops etc.

Poignant reminder
Aug 2021
A tribute to the long gone fishing industry of Filey. This 12 foot tall fisherman stares out to see, perhaps longing for the boats to return

Odd place for a statue
Jul 2021
This is an interesting statue on the promenade of a fishreman, however its placement in the middle of a crazy golf course was a bit odd, definitely worth stopping to see.

Lovely walk along the promenade this afternoon, the sun was out lots of people about, hopefully keeping safe. Their plenty of hand sanitiser along the prom for everyone to use, their is plenty of things to do, ice cream’s shops, snack cafe children’s fairground rides, crazy golf plus much more. Enjoy

Oversized sculpture of fisherman standing on the promenade at Filey. Well worth walking along to see him.

Great for playing in the arcade on a wet afternoon
Aug 2020
The arcade was coping well with Covid, Lots of families having fun. Great access to the beach and a fine walk to the cliffs, although i do prefer the beach at the other end of Filey as it is a little less busy, but that is just how we like it! ENJOY FILEY!!!!!

AN UNSPOILT PROMENADE
Aug 2020
It’s always nice to walk along the prom, prom, prom.
Lovely views of the Brigg and beyond, and once at the end of the promenade you
can watch the fisherman coming in with their catch of the day!
There’s also lots for the children to do, without it looking too tacky.

Lovely Beach : Lovely Promenade
Mar 2020
Limited parking on the promenade - a few places are available at the Coble Landing end. Otherwise main car parks up the hill in Town. Plenty of places to sit or to get a drink and a snack. Very long wide beach - but watch the tide as is comes in quick up the gently shelving beach. It is a bit of a pull to get up the hill into town though.
