If you're visiting Heckington park in the car park and have a look at the memorial. These people died protecting us. Have a seat and reflect.

Well maintained memorial. A fitting tribute to those that served and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Just go, bow your head, and remember them for a few moments.

A lovely memorial, to the people, who lost their lives, during the Wars. Deep respect to all. Well worth a visit.

Set on the main road through the village of Heckington, the Memorial stands at the corner of Church Street and High Street adjacent to the car park of the local public house.
Heckington War Memorial was funded by subscription and unveiled in 1922. It is now Grade II Listed. In The Great War (1914-1918) 250 parishioners served in the armed forces of which 31 lost their lives.
The names of the Fallen from the Great War appear at the base of the column, with the names of a further twelve parishioners who lost their lives during World War Two appearing on the riser of the top step.
The Memorial is constructed of Cornish granite and comprises wheel-head (Celtic) cross embellished with carved knotwork and a central boss surmounting a tapered shaft. This is set upon a plinth and a three-stepped base and overall stands over 7 metres high.
A worthy tribute.

We visited Heckington and as we were walking from the windmill to the church on the heritage open weekend we saw this memorial in the centre of the village. It has its own area at the corner of Church Street and High Street. It is a large Celtic cross with a dedication and names on the plinth which is on a three-stepped base. Worth visiting if you are in the area.
