About
Join us at the Number One Tourist Attraction in North East Lincolnshire as rated by visitors on Trip Advisor. Celebrating our 75th Anniversary in 2023, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is one of Britain’s oldest seaside miniature railways, and has been delighting young and old for generations. Not only does the two mile return journey offer a relaxing way to enjoy beautiful views along the picturesque Humberside Coast, but our line also doubles as a transport link connecting Cleethorpes Promenade with our main station Lakeside (near Cleethorpes Premier Inn). Sit back with a refreshing pint at the smallest pub on the planet 'Signal Box Inn', learn more about the railway in the 'Story of Cleethorpes Miniature Railways Exhibition', have a bite to eat at Sidings Snack Shack and grab a memento from one of our station gift shops.

- 2109LeeKingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom76 contributionsChoo ChooWhat a great little activity no matter what age you are. Quick jump on board “choo choo” and enjoy the ride along a small part of the coast and back. One end the leisure centre, the other end is the station a shop, cafe and even “The planets smallest pub” Well worth a visit and a pint.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- The McAulay’sLondon, United Kingdom1 contributionFabulous Family FunWe’ve, all our family, just been today 9th Dec 23 and it was great. Totally recommended. Great local attraction. Loved seeing the trains and the gift my nephew received from Santa was fab. In fact the adults were keen to get stuck in constructing it.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2023
- Helen C30 contributionsWholesome family funThe light railway was something we were really looking forward to, and it didn't disappoint. Our 7 and 3 year olds loved the free activity sheets, waving to people and playing crazy golf at lakeside. However the highlight for them was Toby the tram - so go prepared with £1. We had a light lunch in the cafe and a cheeky half in the Signal Box aka 'smallest pub in the planet' before having a look in the exhibition. It is only small but there are colouring sheets, seagulls to spot and a Thomas the Tank Engine train to sit/ride on. All the staff we met were really friendly and the kids had a lot of fun. If I was going again, I'd get a leaflet in advance, for 10% or train fare and cost of crazy golf.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 4, 2024

Not as special needs friendly as claimed. There is a fairly big step onto the train, not enough space for walker, they don't take cash and special needs residents don't use bank cards and no signs up to say this. Say to get on at one place then tell is to walk around after resident struggled to walk in the first place. Carers have to pay as well.

I very seldom give poor reviews - usually only visit places with a decent standard. On this occasion I can only give an average at best - reason being a lack of and misinformation. The line runs for 1.25 miles but at the moment is only running for 0.7 miles. The web site actually says 2 miles which it isnt it is appx 1.3 miles return. This is me being fussy but when paying for the ride this is not explained and to enthusiasts and some families important. When I took this up with the people at the cash desk they said it was clear on website and Facebook. People dont all have these nor may want them so at the till it should be explained and clear.
A great railway and falling short of service. A shame - my companions very disappointed

Lovely train ride for all ages!! Our 2 year old LOVED it. Goes from one end of Cleethorpes to the start of the promenade. Can get a one way or return and if you get the return then you can get off and hop on the lollipop train that takes you from the train stop to the pier. Excellent set of services and runs around every 30 mins

Lovely little railway. We must use these facilities otherwise we will lose them. Great fun riding on the train. Very friendly, helpful staff. Many activities, based around the trains, sadly cancelled this year, but lots of hard work put in to maintain this little gem. Interlinks with the Land Train along Clee front and full time-table so you can travel between the two stations and find plenty to do at either end.

We came here as part of a day out for the Armed Forces Weekend. We have been on it before so had some idea what to expect.
Good Points
- It's about the same price as a fair ground ride, we were 2 adults and 1 child, and as I don't do fairground rides, this turned out quite nice.
- It's a gentle ride, although quite short, you can get off the other end and explore / walk back or just stay on and return.
Bad Points
- They seem to have shortened the journey, you used to be able to go all the way to the beach car park further down. Not sure if they have altered the price accordingly, but we were a little surprised when we started back early.

Myself and my elderly parents and niece (4) and nephew (8) won a trip on the railway from the monster trail last year. We had a fantastic ride on the light railway. The station, carriages and engines appeared very well maintained. The line passes through pretty countryside, halfway along there’s a cafe and mini pub. During the trip all staff we came across were friendly and helpful.
The only negative I can find is quite a biggie! The line stops halfway down the track and apparently has for some time. This is due to some crossing problem-come on NE Lincolnshire council resolve this issue! Sorting the level crossing issue will simply improve this gem of a tourist attraction!!!!!!!

Lovely but expensive for a family of 4.
It’s over £20 for a quick ride of 200yard and back- the cafe was closed so couldn’t even have a snack and it’s half term.
Got one child age of 3 still had to pay full child fair??
Lovely little experience but surely it should be valued at £12 (£3 each !) for a family of 4 not £20?!!

My self and family that is four adults two children and a dog went on the Cleethorpes light railway and found it disapointing. The track has been shortened cut in half but we still had to pay the full price, thay was no warning about this we just got to the end of the track and I asked the driver if that was it and he said it has been this short for four years. All the adds for the track still say it is four miles long running along the coast but this part is, now not used , like I said very disapointing!.

Nice little activity but far too expensive for what it is. I was under the impression you might get a nice view of the coastline but this is unfortunately not the case. Fun activity for young children because each journey there and back only lasts around 10 minutes but at £5.40 an adult it’s very overpriced.

I visited here in June with my sister and our train mad boy. After reading the fantastic reviews I was expected an amazing visit. Maybe I was expecting too much but the experience we got was mediocure. The lady in the reception/ cafe looked like she didn't want to be there and especially wasn't happy about serving customers! The train ride was ok but it was no different than any other train ride we have been on (and there have been a few) The train driver never even spoke to us or showed any interest in our boy who was wearing his train t-shirt. The only good thing is the volunteer train guard who did speak to us. This much anticipated visit ruined the end of our holiday. I definately will not be back any time soon!!
