Thought we would try a weekend away, the first since civid19 struck. First impression of the hotel is fabulous, great looking building and the interior is beautiful. There is a massive fireplace with leather couches either side. All the rooms are off a balcony overlooking the fireplace. Our room was quite small, clean linen on the bed, a tv, small set of drawers and two bedside cabinets. Bathroom again was small but had a great walk-in shower. If your over 5ft 1 you might bang your knees on the sink while on the toilet. We ate in the restaurant one evening, food was ok, I had salmon sandwich which I had to send back because it was smoked salmon and I asked for poached. Hubby had hot pot which was lovely. Breakfast was really nice, great orange juice and hot food. All the staff are lovely, friendly and professional, special mention to Sam on the bar and Chris on reception, both lads chatty and helpful. Would definitely stay again but in a bigger room. Hope the hotel gets busier, it deserves to be full.

We attended a wedding event here, although we didn't stay over (Couldn't get a room)

From the moment we arrived, we could not fault the service and friendliness of the staff.

The main hall is fantastic and so impressive. The function room is to the left after a couple of rooms with a large bar. Prices are rather inflated, but that is to be expected.

There is another bar beyond the main function room. Beware the Gents toilets here. After using the facilities the wash basin is right behind the entrance door and you will get hit by it as other needy users come in behind you.

The food served was excellent and a good portion too.

The wedding planner was on the ball and very attentive to the wedding couple's needs.

I saw one of the room's (My son's) It was the Tudor Suite and looked very plush, with a massive bed. Separate seating area and views towards the river.

A good event held in a beatiful building with professional staff.

This venue is amazing. Stunningly and lovingly restored with very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was superb and plentiful throughout the day, from canapes to wedding cake. Choice of food, wines and spirits was second to none. Extremely beautiful venue in a romantic and tranquil setting.

8 members of family and friends chose to spend the first Christmas Day lunch at Mitton Hall; a new experience to dine away from home. So much looking forward to it, and at £95 a head (£35 for a 2 year old!), it was a real treat.
Meal sit down time was at 1.15pm. Sat down at table, staff came with canapes after 10 mins and served 2 strict vegetarians (which we'd stated clearly) with beef canapes.
Waited absolutely ages for starters and then main meal - from starters to desert, service took 3 hours 15 minutes. Some of our table ended up moving into the lounge whilst waiting for the following courses for a change of scenery. Water jugs took forever to come also.
The food: apart from the traditional roast dinner, all the other meals were small portions and disappointing in quality/taste.
Staff seemed to have no Christmas spirit, no Christmas background music...it felt miserable and regimented but even the regimented approach didn't work.
Sadly, we just wanted to leave as soon as we can. There were no apologies, no joy, nothing, and when you think they got £900 just out of our table, it's such a shame. Shan't be going back.

Just returned from an over night stay at Mitton Hall. It was a bit of a special occasion for us and Mitton Hall went the extra mile to make our stay special. We were upgraded plus found a chilled bottle of Prosecco in our room. Unfortunately the room developed a hot water issue later that day. On reporting this to the lady at reception she immediately came to see what the issue was and without hesitation she offered us yet another upgrade free upgrade to the kings suit. She (sorry didnt catch her name ) even helped us move. As you can see we even took our dog with us who made herself comfy by the roaring fire. Like I said they really did go tbe extra mile for us. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff we encountered were extremely helpful. You rarely get service like that these days. We ate from the Brasserie menu and definitely had no complaints. The following morning the full English was and buffet was amazing. Definitely will return as soon as we can.

Our sons wedding took place at this magnificent 15th century hall on Friday 6th September 2019 and it truly was one of the best day of our lives. From arriving up the gravel driveway and being in awe of this breathtaking place to departure the following morning every second spent here was first class. The entrance room with its very impressive fire place was just stunning. I had a quick look around the venue and the grounds before joining the bride & bridesmaids in the Bridal suite to get ready. - wow it was the most beautiful hotel room I have ever laid my eyes on with its huge four poster bed, fireplace and beautiful period features. It was like we had stepped back hundreds of years in time !!! The wedding ceremony was amazing and while the photos were taken and drinks were served the whole team/ staff worked like lightening to get the room ready for the wedding breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff get again served with speed, they were an absolute credit to Mitton Hall. We checked in after the meal ( this was my only bug bare of the day ) we had the Mitton Suite booked and after getting lost trying to find it 🤣 we manouvered through the old corridors and found it. Our suite was absolutely huge and again breathtaking. The rest of the wedding flowed beautifully and we had the best day/night ever. We had the best sleep ever in our huge bed. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. There is a varied menu but we decided on a full English. The staff again were just brilliant !!! You really have an amazing team at your hotel and they deserve any praise they receive. We were gutted to be leaving and will visit again, hopefully during the festive period as I think this would be the most perfect location and I’d love to see the huge Christmas tree !!! Thanks again Mitton Hall it was a pleasure 💕

This was an overnight stay for a birthday treat, superb building, excellent helpful staff. We were out in the evening so could not avail ourselves of the restaurant, however the breakfast the next day was excellent. Room was superb, but it was the "Kings Suite" with a beautiful view over the river. I can't praise this place highly enough. I need to add that this place is a hotel NOT a stately home

Stunning location and venue, recently got married here. Only issue on the day seemed to be the bar staff who were very inexperienced in deal with issues and seemed to think it was appropriate to stated and argue with my guests.

Anyway don’t be put off I’m sure they will rectify this after contacting head office.
