- Denise CCrach, France2 contributionsluxurious and indulgentFabulous setting, fabulously friendly staff. The variety of areas in the spa is amazing! From salt steam room to serenity pool, (although someone needs to supervise the noise in what should be a quiet zone). Genuinely relaxing and ambiant, will definitely go again.Thank you for your kind review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your visit and used all areas. The spa staff were incredibly helpful and the bar staff and restaurant staff really friendly and attentive. It was my daughter’s 18 th and without asking they brought her a brownie with happy birthday in chocolate writing and a sparkling candle. It was such a lovely extra touch. Highly recommend and will definitely returnThank you for your great review. We are pleased you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again soon. - Latisha J13 contributionsAmazing spa but didn’t feel relaxedThe facilities are lovely and the staff really welcoming and friendly. I did enjoy myself but wouldn’t rush back as it just wasn’t very relaxing and that’s what I want from a spa day. I’ve been to places with less on the facilities front but had a more relaxed time. The quiet room wasn’t quiet, lots of talking and shouting amongst a group. Staff were around to hear this and it’s a shame they didn’t do something about it. Their was a young couple all over each other in the outdoor hot tubs. And I mean on top of each other kissing. Whilst amusing, it’s just not what I expected. Lots of people posing for pictures. I prefer a relaxing time with nice lighting, smells and music. I didn’t feel like I got that. People were drinking a lot and it was very brightly lit in the evening once dark. Just not for me personally.Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry you did not feel as relaxed as you have done elsewhere as we wish everyone a relaxing time when visiting The Woodland Spa. I hope you may re-consider a return visit. - familyb5Lancaster District, United Kingdom321 contributionsRecomendedLove coming here. No noise from ongoing work on the day i went but welcome touch having the £10 voucher to use on the day incase. Garden bar partly refurbed for past few months - will look nice once finished! Why only 4 stars? Fire on one side of wall of serenity pool not working and star lights on ceiling in there also off. For most of the morning a used glass from previous day was blowing around the outside area. Given its November outside pools would be better a little warmer. Would also love some mattresses on some loungers - surely waterproof type ones would be ok? Being so relaxed at the end of the day forgot to use voucher when settling tab until it was too late. Staff kindly arranged for me to us it to but drinks to take home. Bertrams lunch good as ever. Just wish you could get a piece of cake/fruit or something in garden bar over winter months to go with a drink.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 19, 2023
- wahaba130 contributionsbirthday spa dayI recently enjoyed a wonderful day of relaxation with my son, in honour of his 30th Birthday. On arrival, he was given a birthday card and after our lunch came a cake with a giant sparkler in it. Absolutely unexpected wonderful touches to make his birthday even more special. My son had a full body massage, which he said was amazing, as he floated out. My only criticism was that it was very busy and several groups were not very mindful of leaving their towels on beds. At one point there were 8 empty but with towels, beds in the serenity room and only 2 people in the pool, so we moved the towels. Everything else was spot on. The food was lovely, the staff were lovely and so helpful. We had an amazing day, thank you :O)Thank you for your review. We are really pleased that the birthday visit lived up to expectation. I'm sorry if other visitors did not respect the advice regarding towels and hope this will not put you off returning to see us soon. Outside pools a little chilly but it was blowing a gale and December's coldest day of the month. Staff extremely helpful. A relaxing day out with my daughter and granddaughterThank you for taking the time to leave a review. - Alison H3 contributionsA much needed relaxing day.I always have a fabulously relaxing time at the spa, this year I felt the surroundings were a little tired looking. It feels like the hotel is having all the money spent on it and the spa is suffering. Some love and care to the fixtures is needed.Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear your thoughts as we have recently refurbished the sauna, the outdoor area and fire pits. We are continuing to refresh the inside of the spa and hope you can see the continued investment on your next visit. I bought my mum a voucher as a birthday present in February 2020 which had a 2 year expiry date. Due to the pandemic and restrictions etc we were unable to redeem this voucher for at least 1 and a half years of it. I contacted them to enquire about an extension period because of this but was informed this wouldn’t be possible, however if we booked our experience in before the expiry date then it could be at a later date…. which is what we did and booked it for may this year. They did however state that they would need the voucher posted to them before it expired.
4 weeks after it expired my mum realised that she had forgotten to actually post the voucher and contacted them immediately and was informed it was now void and they would no longer accept the voucher and there was zero negotiation on this.
This has upset me greatly as we have already paid for this via credit card so they have our money, there has been no fee increase so they aren’t out of pocket all we are guilty of is forgetting to send the paper slip. The last two years have been exceptional for us all and continue to be and to not have any wiggle room on something so trivial beggars belief. Very very poor customer service. We have no come back on this at all and I feel we have been treated very unfairly indeed. I have however reported to trading standards but fear that will be a dead end also.

I would rate no stars if it was possible.
Totally agree with other people on here, very BAD customer service.
We were very lucky to of been bought a spa voucher as a wedding present from friends and family of £300 which we were planning on using for our honeymoon once businesses were back open. Unfortunately due to the restrictions of Covid over the last 2 years this has been extremely difficult as so many other people were in the same position.
Apparently our vouchers were extended for 3 months (October, November, December of 2021). There was absolutely no communication of this.
How are you expected to use these without even knowing this and how are you meant to get all the existing vouchers used in this time (for being closed for months on end) and you giving people the 3 busiest months of the year to use them, which was obviously going to be impossible. We were basically told its tough luck!!!
Totally understand that's it been a tough time, but you've had peoples money already and i'm sure you took full advantage of the government grants and loans that were available, unfortunately us "the customers" didn't have the luxury.
After looking into this, I am shocked at how many other people you have done this to. Shame on you!!

I was recently bought a voucher for here. Myself and my friend booked a spa day and extras, costing almost £400 between us. Unfortunately I lost the voucher. On calling the spa to explain this they said there was nothing they could do and I’d have to pay the voucher amount to be able to go. On booking the spa day my voucher was validated and they took the ref no off us over the phone for the voucher. On speaking to numerous staff and emails from them they say there’s absolutely nothing they can do!! The customer service from them has been appalling and they’ve literally stole my friends money from buying the voucher even though it has been validated and we have proof/date of purchase!! I have been a good customer over the years along with my friends but because this me and my friends will never be returning!!

I have just returned from an overnight Spa Break at Woodland and stay in the CrowWood Hotel.
The Spa is fabulous, the outdoor area makes it a little more special than others.
I’ve been a few times and it’s never too busy they seem to allow for just the right number of people so that you don’t feel crowded.
The treatments are overpriced but it’s enough to just enjoy the facilities. We did do the Rasul Mud treatment which is £20 each so reasonable priced and was actually good fun!
We ate Tapas for lunch which was excellent and the cocktails are 👌🏻 although a little pricey!
The CrowWood hotel is really lovely it’s very clean and facilities are excellent.
We ate at Wilfreds in the evening - we had the chateaubriand which I would definitely recommend.
The staff at the Spa, Hotel and Restaurants are all very pleasant and helpful - they make your stay a little extra special.
Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

If you even manage to get through to someone on the phone to make a booking, that will be after being on hold for 10 - 15mins and then you'll be directed to the hotel side of the business where they can't help you with spa queries or bookings.
Tried to book 3-4times over the space of a year in 2020, the spa was always fully booked at weekends and the process of booking and getting assistance was so difficult that I gave up in each instance. Then we've had the virus pandemic going on which made booking even more difficult and I didnt really think it was responsible regardless of the governments ever changing guidance to visit the spa.
I was wanting to go because I'd heard good things about the spa and I got a £50 voucher for a Christmas 2019 off my brother. Tried to use the voucher 5th of January 2021 as I was told vouchers expiry had been extended only to be told (via email not phone because it is impossible to actually speak to anyone) by a spa staff member that the voucher had expired by 5days and could not been used and that they had shared this info on their website and on social media so there was no chance of making an exception.
I'm sorry but you cant expect prospective brand new customers to follow the spas every word on the internet. The spa had my details on file from previous booking attempts and they didnt think to contact me in anyway to share this new voucher information. When I complained and said that this wasn't fair they didn't offer any further support or compromise.
I was going to book to come for my girlfriend and I's anniversary in January and spend upwards of £250 with the Woodland Spa, but the whole process of booking, poor customer service and then to top it off, the spa not honouring the voucher in the middle of a pandemic put me off completely.
My brother bought a £120 voucher for our mum as well and the Spa hasn't honoured that voucher either because it was around 5 days out of date. That means my brother has given £170 to the Woodland Spa for no return what so ever - daylight robbery.

Having been a crowwood founder member until relocation, I'm aware how difficult it is to get through to reception at the Woodland Spa ( when there is no pandemic) . But having made a formal complaint almost 2 weeks ago via phone and email about the spa ruining 2 friends birthdays by neither of them receiving their vouchers ( despite living at 2 separate addresses and the vouchers " apparently " being sent on the same day). I have still had no response. Bad enough they manage to " loose " both vouchers, but to also not respond to complaints is appalling.

Seems like I am not the only person who has been robbed of a voucher. My friends purchased a £160 voucher back in Feb 2020, which they gave to me in the April. Of course we were already in lockdown by that point so it could not be used. When the Spa was finally able to open, I attempted on 3 occasions to make a booking, but there was never any suitable availability, even when I requested 3 months in advance. I have now been told my voucher has expired and there is nothing they will do. It's a shocking lack of good will and the only company I have heard of that have made no exceptions for the PANDEMIC of the last two years. I have received refunds/extensions for a number of flights/hotels with other companies. While I understand it has been a difficult time for many businesses, the success of any hospitality business is built on good customer service, which it seems they lack.

My friends purchased a £150 gift voucher for my 30th with there hard earned money. Due to covid and having a baby I was unable to book. My voucher expired by one month and woodlands would not allow me to book a visit. I am absolutely disgusted with the way I have been treated! I was going to book with my mum and sisters who were all prepared to pay at least £150 each so they have missed out on £750. How can someone have £150 of your money and not honour the voucher? DISGUSTING!

The Woodland Spa is an amazing, modern spa experience and never fails to disappoint. I have regularly opted for the ‘spa, stay and dine’ option, as I have found this to be better value than paying for the spa day alone, which is on the pricey side. The staff are lovely and attentive and the tapas bar experience is perfect in the day time (or afternoon tea!), and I especially enjoy the fire pit with comfy outdoor seating. Great experience and lovely restaurants to accompany a perfect couples retreat!

What do you wear during the Rasul Mud Treatment? Should I bring an old swimming costume?

Hi not been before so Just wondering if anyone knows if they serve cocktails like pornstar Martinis at the outside terrace as only could see online they do Prosecco kinda ones ? Also for lunch is it just the terrace or Bertram’s I saw the lounge menu online that looked nice but if you had to walk over to it with your robes on guessing it wouldn’t be ideal ? Thanks

If you book double room b&b @ crow wood, do you get access to woodland spa? And if so, how do you book spa? TIA
Written May 19, 2019
Sorry for the late response. All details regarding spa packages can be found on the website. If you search for the woodland spa you’ll find a link to their website - can’t seem o add a link here
Not sure if you book accommodation you get access to the spa. I suggest you give them a call and ask

It was very cold outside today but the hot tubs were lovely and warm, you just needed to get your shoulders under water. The pool felt cool as you got in but it was lovely, honestly! Perhaps as it goes dark the temperature of the hot tubs should be a little higher.

Wondering how to book a spa break as not very simple to see on their website. Doesn't show availbilty either?
Written November 28, 2018
When I booked my break, I called in to book and have a look round but I live only an hour away. Not so easy to do when you live a distance. I would recommend giving them a call with plenty of notice because it does get booked in advance at weekends especially.

Hi just booked an overnight spa treat for me and my bf. It's his birthday, has anyone arranged with the hotel balloons etc? Does the hotel provide a complimentary in room happy birthday treat?
Also our package includes breakfast, two treatments and dinner. Is the dinner a 3 course each, and to what limit? They haven't explained.
Also does our deal include lunch?
Many thanks, Katie
