Pleasant drink

STAY CLEAR. Spend your money elsewhere in Whitstable. The landlady was like a screaming banshee and amazingly rude and threatening to us for no reason. They were closing up yesterday at 7pm (bank holiday weekend on Sunday) and we were in here having a quick drink before going for dinner at Samphire. She approached our table and just flipped and... Good choice of drinks and nice atmosphere and service. Centrally located and friendly - a good boozer. Bigger than it looks!!!

Went to the Dukes last night with 8 of my friends, we are all local girls and have been here many times before. NEVER AGAIN. The management spoke to us like we were something he stepped in. I have never felt so intimidated and threatened in my home town before. We were asked to leave and never return. Not one... More

Do not come to this pub, never felt so unwelcomed!! Atmosphere is awful. Best to avoid and go to other pubs in the area, which are welcoming.

I’ve never been made to feel more unwelcome at a pub than I was at the Duke. A few gentleman friends and I were in there on a Saturday night at around 7ish for a couple of drinks. There was some laughing and some joking amongst us but nothing particularly rambunctious. All was going rather swimmingly until about 45 minutes... More

Visited on 10 September to see Juan Martin (top Flamenco guitarist). The venue was very small and intimate, with candles on every table and dotted around the room. Lovely ambience. Music was amazing. Will definitely keep an eye out and return.

This pub was just across the road from our rented flat , we called in for a couple of drinks and were made very welcome by the bartender , it has a lovely comfortable interior .

We stopped here with our dog on a wet lunchtime, had a welcoming drink. Food menu look good but not huge, the food we saw looked very appetising although we did not eat! Owners dogs in pub very well behaved. Papers available to read throughout pub.

After a lovely meal in the Whitstable Oyster Co, our large party broke up and some of us gravitated to the Duke of Cumberland - the collection of old radios drew the ex-pirates from Radio Essex in the 60's in and the ambience was good. We left when it started getting noisy
