A bit overpriced for both meal and drinks. Unfortunately the table we sat at was very sticky which was off putting.

We happened by this pub on our way to Hever and what a find it was .

Lovely salad lunch with walnuts, Stilton pears and hot goats cheese, bursting with textures and flavours . I’m salivating thinking about it as I type!

We looked at the evening menu and considered returning for dinner (lobster!) but didn’t only because we plumped for somewhere in walking distance of our accommodation so we could have a drink .

I’ll definitely look this place out when I’m in the area again .

Came for a roast dinner, thought portion was small,to much fat on my beef, ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which I had to send back due to it tasting strongly of lemons. Overpriced for what we got

Arrived just after 11 am Friday 5th August 22, there were a couple of people sitting outside and it was empty inside. Ordered a pot of tea for two, £6.40, as to early for lunch and sat outside which was lovely. When it was time to order food we went inside as a few wasps flygi around. Ordered The Ultimate Classic Egg Mayonnaise and mustard cress sandwich with crisps and salad,£8.95, I said I didn't want the leafy salad but would like a couple of tomatoes. and my nephew ordered Chicken, bacon & mayo sandwich £10.95.

Orders arrived, my nephew started his and there was no chicken in the sandwich so had to raise this and they were quick to put it right, My egg mayo with mustard cress had no mustard cress and they had put the tomatoes inside which I absolutely hate. so I removed the tomatoes and ate them separately. It was the worst tasteless egg sandwich i have ever had.

The table was filthy and had obviously not been cleaned since the night before as inside was empty when we arrived, it also smelt stale and that was with all the doors and open. We shall not be going again or recommending it.

Oh, and we both have upset stomachs tonight.

I have visited this pub frequently for the past ten years and have as a rule been satisfied.
I popped in yesterday lunch with my wife for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat,I had the white bait ,and my wife had a fish finger wrap.
The pub was quiet, and after about 30 minutes our food arrived,my whitebait was cooked ok (frozen), but just slung on a plate with a small handful of old shrivelled rocket and a pot of tartare sauce ,in my experience this dish would come with a little brown bread or toast especially for nearly £8.00!,so I asked the waiter if there was any bread to go with it,he picked up the menu ,scanned it and pointed out that there was no bread mentioned(a little condescending )and would I like to order a side of brown bread,I said not to bother,
My wife's food looked like someone had drop kicked it onto the plate and then slung some bloody crisps on the side.
We also ordered some sweet potato fries which came in a little metal basket, this was £4.50 and I counted about ten fries!,the female behind the bar (who was very nice)took them back at my request and came back with a full portion.
As I finished my whitebait the waiter arrived with some brown bread and butter!,an afterthought?,who knows....
It was a sunny day so we took our drinks(which were fine,I love Abbott ale) outside and sat at a table,we discussed on how could our small but simple lunch could been so bad, well we had to shout over an extremely noisy ac unit by the wall..then it became a little clearer as from out the back of the pub came two guys(which I imagine were cooks going by the aprons and shabby clothes) who started smoking!..didn't look very good but might have explained the long wait we had for our food.
Apart from the very friendly bar maid the whole experience I liken to a bad trip to a harvester!.
It has really put me off travelling out of Sevenoaks to the jug for a main meal if this is anything to go by.
I bumped into a friend at another pub on the way home who said he was there a while back and walked out because the service was shocking.
Come on Whiting and Hammond, sort it out!

It was my sons 35th birthday. So took him to the Little brown jug.
I ordered the mussels. These smelt horrific. Sent them back.
My son had dome sort of mixed fish starter saturated in oil.
Mains
I had 3 sausages a portion of chips and onion rings£15.00. Very expensive for run of the mill sausages.
My son had the cod which again was not cooked in thr centre.
X6 people £225.00 with a £25.00 service charge. That should have not been put on due to the poor cooking.
Kitchen staff very poor. How did them mussels get passed service.
All in all won't be going there again or recommend it.
