What a fantastic day we had on the KESSR, every one of the staff we came across were so friendly and accommodating. Can highly recommend the cream tea (this does need to be pre-ordered) excellent value for money, two scones and refills if required of your tea/coffee. Like us upgrade to a glass of bubbles and watch the lovely countryside... More

A very pleasant journey on a well-run restoration of a rural light railway, featuring a slow trundle through pleasant Wealden scenery, and a challenging climb for a tank engine with a heavy train. Coaching stock was a mixture of Mk1 and older. On the way back we went 1st in a very luxurious compartment in 1931 stock. We reached the... More

Visited with my wife while on a break nearby. Great trip to Bodiam Castle and back. Well worth the price and the experience of the sight and smell of a steam train.

It is several years since I've been to the K&ESR, and this was just a brief visit to Tenterden Town Station - no journey this time, We were only there for a brief visit, but spent a pleasant 40 minutes or so soaking up the ambience of this delightful station, watching one train depart to Bodiam, and enjoying the flowers... Many thanks for the review. Reading it has made me feel (strangely) relaxed, so I hope this reflects your perception of the K&ESR too! The Model Railway is very much a work in progress but, as you suggested, has already proved astonishingly popular with our younger visitors. It will continue to be developed as time goes on - who knows... More

Our grandchildren aged 5 & 6 had so much fun on the ride from Bodiam to Tenterden on a steam train, the smoke the whistles, large carriages with proper seats, the rocking and chatting from the wheels as they crossed the joints in the track. Friendly staff on board and train drivers who stopped to say hello in the station,... More

A beautiful trip through the Kent countryside. Staff were helpful and friendly. Journey one way is 45 minutes so far longer than many other nearby steam railways. Gift shop and cafe at Tenterden.

Many thanks for choosing to visit us and taking the time to leave a review. We're fortunate to have some beautifully unspoilt countryside surrounding us. Keep a look out for interesting wildlife too - our heritage diesel observation train is particularly good for this & a 'drivers eye' view of the line. More

Website says catering at Bodiam & Northiam - there isn't. Edith Cavell van "free to train ticket holders" - if they can get past huge padlock on doors! (2nd failed attempt to visit). Even shop at Tenterden was closed when I visited 10 days ago. Why can't they mix rolling stock so that all trains have suitable seating for mobility... More

Visited KESR with my small children aged 3-8 years, they all loved it. They got to have a look in the engine bay which excited them. Train itself was lovely, clean and well kept. Stations were all nice. We popped along to Bodiam Castle which was also lovely. Highly recommend for all ages. Choo choo!
