Traditional cinema, polished brass handrail etc. Cup of tea at half time, cheaper than these big awfull multi screen holes. Love it.

A lovely quaint cinema with many original features. Seats slightly uncomfortable after a while but well worth a visit

Well this cinema is a step back in time, a 1930s retro cinema that has not changed much over the years it still has green & pink neon lighting around the outside side, old time ticket machine with a clunk clunk as they give you your ticket and the very friendly staff show you to your seat with the aid... It was like going back in time, tickets with admit one on , everybody was lovely and the cinema was nice and warm, not much room for your legs. They even had an interval which allowed you to top up on coffees and goodies. Well worth a visit if you stay in Sandwich a truly memorable experience, and will definetly... More

would love to recommend this art deco cinema, but we had to leave 15 minutes into the film as the damp smell sickened us. Renovation work was going on at the time and they should have closed the place.

Lovely cinema, plenty of space. We were cold even though the heating was on but we would still go again as it is a gem (put your long johns on). Lots of stairs so could be difficult for some unless there is a lift?.

This is an experience not to be missed. You can reserve your seat by leaving message on the phone and when you arrive your tickets are handed to you in a most polite manner at the same time with a very warm welcome. When you enter the auditorium, you are shown to your seat by the usher. There is always an... More

I love going to the Empire Cinema. The whole experience is just so quaint, from purchasing the tickets and hearing the clunk of the 1950s ticket dispenser to the £1 cup of tea in the interval. When the film starts the usher (very kindly 80 year-old gentleman) pulls across the door curtain to stop any draughts, then I imagine trundles... More

This is a seriously eccentric cinema. by all accounts it should not still be around as it is an independent with a rather tired feel. The sound system is OK and the seating is cramped. however the point is that this is a vintage cinema and a real treasure. If you go, you will keep it open which is why... More
