Even the drive to Richborough Roman Fort is fantastic.. we love it here (as does the dog).. plenty of information available on board placed around the site and also there is an audio version.. took us about 40 minutes today as it was very windy.....More
Plenty of information in the museum and an audio guide makes this a very interesting place to visit. It takes about an hour to see it all. Plenty of parking. English Heritage members get free entrance.
Lots of space for taking young children. Certain times of the year English Heritage stage Battle re-enactments. The characters talk to the children/adults about what their conditions were, and what they did to live.
We stumbled upon this while visiting Deal and Walmer Castle around the same area. What an interesting place, I'm surprised more people don't know about it especially because how important the site is in British history.

A real hidden gem up a long, winding little road. A fascinating and unusual site full of Roman history. I think English Heritage could do with giving them a little cash injection (informational signs etc are a bit battered and hard to read in places)...More

Went there today after deal castle and this is impressive, English Heritage do need to update the info boards but they do give you a feel for what went on there.

Have good pair of walking shoes for this visit. Wanted to visit this site for some time and was not disappointed. Use the toilets at the car park as they are the only ones on site.
