Having read some of the reviews on here I was sceptical about a visit, but having spent a wonderful afternoon there with my family I can only say good things about Dreamland! The park is clean, staff were helpful and there was a great choice of rides- particularly the scenic railway. My only negative is that it is quite expensive but the bonus was that it didn’t cost us anything to enter, so my elderly parents were able to join us without paying as they didn’t use any of the rides.
The parking charge is quite steep at £9 but it did last the whole day so we enjoyed a couple of hours at the beach afterwards.

Visited for the Last Dance Music Festival. Bit disappointed that the rides were not free like my previous visit for the May the Fourth event but still had a giggle on the Ghost Train and Dodgems. Event was well organised and there was a wide range of bar and food options. The sound system was excellent and the over all event presented great value for money. Will definitely go again for another open air gig

Had a great night on the 6th . But was let down by poor attitude of one of your employees who was working on the festival gitter art stall, who thought that it was OK, to film and laugh at 2 plus size girls who were dancing and enjoying themselves. When I asked him if he did that to all the girls he was quick to try and justify that he wasn't and he was filming the stage which was in a different direct. He must have though I was stupid. I told him he was caught out and its not right what he was doing. He just went quiet and then whispered to the girl who was working on the same stall. Shame on whoever employed them.

Simply Red Concert 12th August Dreamland Margate:

Two great bands featured Simply Red & The Brand New Heavies, what could possibly go wrong ? Having purchased four VIP Tickets advertised as an exclusive area what you got for just over £ 500.00 was a position right at the BACK of the performance area. The raised area was on loose stones and very few chairs supplied at that, therefore the option was to either sit on these loose stones and pink sand or stand up for 5 hours! The VIP Experience was advertised as Performance Area with Excellent view of the stage, it was so far back that although you could see the stage you couldn’t see anyone on it, it could have been any one performing. The Bar and Food area was mediocre with high price drinks and food on offer.

We asked the security for seating to be brought out but they said they had none and this was early on.

The worst part however was the gig itself, none of which could be blamed on the two bands SR and Brand New Heavies. Having seen both bands lots of times at different venues Margate Dreamland is dire, the Sound System isn’t up to the job, it is underpowered and has no intelligible dispersion across the whole performance area. You couldn’t hear spoken speech so no idea what the artists were saying, the mix was Bass heavy and the other instruments had no definition to them. Even Simply Reds own Sound Engineer who mixed SR couldn’t overcome the limitations of this awful sound system not fit for purpose, the audience could be clearly heard over the music and this caused the audience apart from those at the front to become disengaged with the Perforomances of the two bands. The toilets were overflowing liquid onto a paved patio area near to the food stands and security staffed were advising people to mind where they stepped.

I don’t know who the promoter was but my best guess is that you wont see either of these two great bands appearing there again any time soon.

In summary the venue isn’t fit for purpose , complete RIP Off for ticket prices given the state of the venue which looks half finished. Based on our experience and the comments many were making amongst the VIP Ticket holders Dreamland Margate will not get repeat customers willing to pay for such a awful experience based on not the bands but the rubbish set up Dreamland Margate think is acceptable.

Review for Simply Red Concert:

DO NOT, book VIP it’s an absolute con, we paid £125 each for the simply red concert and won’t be returning, upon arrival we were poorly guided up to the “VIP” area, which basically consists of a gravel footpath slightly higher up than the standard priced tickets.

There is no cash bar, there is no security around there, people without wristbands walking around, you cannot get a seat because there are only for disabled people, so it’s 90% standing, from which the view it appalling, the VIP platform doesn’t even look onto the stage, the speakers are all at the front so can’t hear barely anything at the back, at around 9pm the complaints were so much that security were put the steps to the “VIP” area which was a laughing stock.

Toilets were blocked so their estates team were lifting manholes in front of us.

The whole night was a shambles and so poorly managed. I would never pay the extra for VIP again, better off paying the standard ticket and standing down there
Bottom where you are next to the food and drink stalls closer to the music.

Such a shame because the place has so much potential, but needs a desperate change.

It’s going down hill fast like a first drop on a rollercoaster. It’s only been open 5 days May 29th 2022 . For a park that has had a whole year to get ready post covid it’s in a bad way . They have a hand full of rides brought in by showmen which are all working fine . But it’s clear to see the rides the park owns are not in fit state to operate yet and not pass the verification they require to take guess. Plus no signs at any pay both or entree points rides closed today .After a family member purchase tickets to take a child on the family steel coaster . The place is selling itself as a music venue more than a family park . The real salt in the eye is that you have to purchase a different ride ticket for the main attraction scenic railway. I would say save the money and buy extra ice cream on the prom.

Accessibility is a bit of a joke at this venue, I have to list the issues as there are so many.

1. Guidance was non-existent; the only information we got was to wave our wristband at security to go upstairs.
2. There are two entrances, one set of stairs next to the entrance, and another steep ramp (which had multiple unattended barriers) at the other end of the park of which you have to wade through crowds to access. Not great for wheelchair users and the less abled.
3. As instructions were minimal, you make your way to the platform thinking it is the accessible area, but it is not; this is the VIP area. A common complaint on the day was the 'grabby' security member who has a book on what each wristband entitles you to. Firstly, this should be discussed upon arrival; secondly, disabled people should not be manhandled because of lack of clarification/misinformation from the staff.
4. As the wristband does not entitle you to use the bar on the platform, you have to go all the way downstairs to queue at the main bars and food areas. How is this accessible? This makes things far more difficult for disabled people and their carer.
5. It was the strangest thing, they usher you into an 'accessible area' which is condoned off by barriers that are left unattended; so you can't get in or out if you use a wheelchair or are less abled. Again, how is this accessible? It made absolutely no sense at all.

So dissappointed - Dreamland has lost it’s charm is just horrendously expensive now! Our last visit was in 2019, and we gladly paid £150-200 for the family to get wristbands for the day. That way, the kids rode their favourite rides several times and had great fun! Now we have to pay enormous amounts on tickets, and counting tickets all day, feeling like each ride as family is costing a fortune (2 minutes on a small ride for the whole family cost at least £ 15 pounds worth of tickets!!). Because of this, we gave up buying tickets and left the park . So I’m just letting management know that having the option of wristbands, even if slightly expensive, would make many visitors much happier and willing to spend more. Why not have tickets AND wristbands available!?
I feel like this park is not run to give families a lovely experience anymore, just to milk us of money. Well, in our case, we would have spent much more if we didn’t have to worry about those awful tickets. Dreamland is now run on greed and poor management.
The ride operators were miserable and totally mute, by the way. Made the whole thing even more sad. I grieve for the Dreamland we visited 3 years ago. It was magical and fun.
Please fix it. Or shut down. No one wants to visit a park the way it is now.

Absolute rip off for theme park. Have been going here over 30 yrs, will not return. Spent over £100 in an hour, no wristbands, Ticket to ride only , limited rides, all £3 or £4 a go. This is not a visiting fairground where you are prepared to be fleeced and only spend limited time. it is something locals have used for years and are now taking their own children to.
It is a good music venue, so maybe they should just do that. My kids were excited to be there so I bit the bullet and let them ride but will not return.
Greed in this case, from the perspective of the rides, the music venue does well and is well run, and a great idea, and I’m sure makes a great revenue.
We will lose the theme park aspect of this place if something isn’t done to make it something to be used regularly and affordably, such a shame, so many locals have great memories of this place and it has a great future as a music venue, but the theme parks future is dim if it continues to be run this way.

This was my first visit to Dreamland and I was a bit surprised as to not only how expensive it was but how yucky it felt. I appreciate that it's free to enter which must undoubtedly be to encourage people to Margate. But when the rides are between £3-£4 per person per ride, it's not a place that you can stay at for too long as it becomes too expensive. So having paid £6 for a two minute ride on the ghost train, we left for ice cream, which was far better value!
