Only tried to walk in for a bevvy to wait for our table in another restaurant, as we were a little early, and the barman, (old guy with glasses) was rude on approach, raising his voice stating "no, no mask, no entry", even though my partner had a mask on and I was medically exempt. After responding with this, he told us to wait. Yet, there were 3 guys near the entrance, drinking away with no masks present around their face. Probably because of colour, as we were both of the darker skin tone, but, who knows? We just didn't appreciate the way he handled it.

Regularly drink in this pub and it is the best pub in margate. Friendly staff, decent prices, good jukebox and has sky sports. Has a TV screen in every corner of the pub as well as the big screen. Nice seated area outside for the summer, love this pub.

A cosy local pub in Margate Old Town's Market Square with genuinely friendly staff. A good place to spend a couple of ours out of the rain or to rest your legs after browsing in the nearby shops. And there's a restaurant upstairs!

The 6 of us were having a few rounds of quiet drinks and whilst some of us were playing darts, one tired friend was resting his head on the table after working a long shift. A middle aged man behind the bar made what sounded like a joke about him being tired and said ‘maybe you should go home’, we laughed but he then said ‘no I’m being serious, it’s disrespectful to the establishment.’ He then aggressively told the guy to sit up, which he did. This was a really awkward, strange interaction. The guy then kept looking over and glaring.
10mins later the same guy was resting on the table and watching the tv. The man came back over and again was aggressive and swearing saying he needs to go home, that he was making this place look like a ‘shi*hole’. Us others then got involved and said we don’t understand why it matters, we’re in a corner away from everyone and the only person it’s bothering is him. (The guy couldn’t go home yet because we were his lift.) We felt disrespected and made the point that he was unnecessarily loosing 6 paying customers by making a fuss of nothing. He told the guy to go find a children’s crèche instead of being where the adults were-we’re all over 20 and were the youngest ones in the pub causing 0 trouble.
After making our sound argument to him and him probably realising he was being ridiculous (but not apologising), we quietly got up and left.
I will never go back here and pay money that could go into the hands of a man so intent on being so unnecessarily rude to someone.
The only reason we go here is for the pool table, nothing else makes it worth it. Really disappointing experience.

Well...what can be said about the wig and pen!? Fantastic service and alcoholic beverages served with a smile and a wink. We were very satisfied and recommend.

Visited with a group of 7 people, 4 of us ordered drinks. 3 members of our group didn't feel like drinking. After taking the orders for 4 of us, the bartender then told us that if the 3 members of our group who didn't want to drink didn't order we would have to leave as it was football night, despite the fact that the bar contained a total of 12 people (excluding us) and thus had plenty of available seating. Will probably avoid in future. Not good for groups.

The pub itself is in the Old Town

It is just as short distance from the beach & had traditional hand pulled
beers & great staff & an outside drinking area

In short great pub for those who enjoy traditional pubs without the hassle
of economy seeking drunks

We went to this pub for a quick drink before heading out for dinner and really liked the friendly atmosphere. The pub was full of locals and the staff were very nice. Recommend if you're looking for a watering hole near the old town.
