So I sense that this is quite a controversial building, although to my mind it is not too intrusive and it is pretty good given that it had to be built to a limited budget. Ultimately it can only be a positive contributor to the much needed regeneration of Margate. Internally it is well laid out, although some of the... More

If the Turner keeps up this standard of works then it is definitely worth a visit. There was a huge piece, dominating the lobby, The Three Muses, that was simply stunning - as was the way in which a collaboration of local artists and craftspeople had supported the work of the lead artist - Kashif Nadim Chaudry. Well worth a... More

I came here with family and wasn't really impressed, thought most of the art work could of been better, just because you're famous doesn't meant you can scribble on a post card and call it art, food was well over priced for what it is. Hightlight of the visit was a man outside with different species of owls that you... More

When I used to come down to Margate with my mates a few years ago, this place was not here. It is a large, modern building, with plenty of glass and lots of light. We went on a Saturday, and there was a craft fayre on, as well as the art exhibition. As we were browsing, we heard music playing,... More

After a lovely walk along Margate seafront I thought i'd take a visit to the Turner Contemporary. Loved it,loved the art, loved the space and enjoyed a coffee in the cafe.A great way to relax and unwind. Will be returning.

Marvellous location, on the harbour front and an excellent Turner exhibition. The building is horribly ugly from the outside, but the interior is very good and fit for purpose. Gift shop and café as expected and the exhibits are breathtaking - shame you can't take photos though. Allow a good hour and a half to do it justice.

When we visited, the exhibition was on Turner himself who I didn't know much about. Great informative exhibition with some famous paintings.

Having just moved to the area we were intrigued as to what the well publicised and prominently located art centre would have to offer. The current exhibition was fascinating with some lovely local pictures. We spent less than an hour looking around but still enjoyed it. The gift shop was very disappointing with very little of Turners work except a... More

If it was always the same, I'd never visit again, but everytime I have been it has been different, whether that be the 1980's Music artwork, Grayson Perry or as now a significant collection of actual Turners on loan from various collection from around the world. I was a local who whilst not anti the Turner centre was somewhat dubious... More

Turner Contemporary does not own the exhibits but relies on loans from other collections. We spent 5 plus hours inside the exhibition and came out very satisfied which also included an impressive sight and sound show. I imagine exhibitions change regularly so check the progamme. There is not much else happening in Margate at this time of year, so If... More
