Nice chilled couple of beers
Aug 2020 • Couples
Good surroundings, nice atmosphere. A little limited on the selection of beer but understandable what with covid. Good location. Friendly and attentive staff. Beers came out quickly when we ordered (from our table- no bar service at present due to to covid).

Very bad

Try putting some beers on. Last I looked was no beers on and owner was absent and doesn't seem interested in this place anymore.

Good pub with good music on the weekend
Jul 2019 • Couples
Good pub in the centre of town with a good selection of beers. There was a DJ playing at the weekend and was lively with a good atmosphere.

Micropub, micro customers
Oct 2019
A revisit for one of our group so happy to accompany him. Bit of a surprise on entry - was it a pub or kindergarten? Well-behaved children from babes-in-arms to toddlers, possibly sheltering from the inclement weather but seemingly comfortably nestled in, was unexpected. Typical micropub style, bit spit-and-sawdust, ramshackle eclectic mix of furniture, choice of ales - but also a choice of lagers & ciders. Confusingly their web site is not for the venue I visited!

Good local atmosphere
Aug 2019 • Couples
Just of the seafront, is this lovely ale and cider house. Cracking selection of ales, ciders and Perry's. Lovely atmosphere with locals, youll always find someone to have a chat with. Local folk nights are busy but great. Lovely snacks on offer, love the cheese board. Real sense of real margate here.

All that is required of a Pub
Excellent traditional pub, all wooden floors, furniture and a cracking fireplace with a large woodburner. As well as 16 pumps on the go and 8 polypins of a variety of ciders there was live music, what else could you ask for?

Decline and fall
Feb 2018 • Friends
I went to this pub around four or five years ago and thought it was the best pub I had ever been to. "The Moon under Water"" in George Orwell's famous essay. Wonderful staff, beer and so atmospheric with barrels of beer on show, on their side, with taps, local Kent produce etc.I was so looking forward to going back. I went back and it has turned into a thoroughly normal, nondescript pub. Nice fire burning. Friendly and hardworking barmaid, ugly bar, ugly lighting, and a range of Brewdog beer - odd since Brewdog is from Aberdeenshire. a long way from Thanet. Quiet expensive for no reason so went around the corner like everyone else to The Fez instead.
