Cold August stroll
Aug 2021
The 1st August, and at 9am the weather was not in ,y favour. Occasional drizzle, and cloud cover left the temperature at around 16 degs, not exactly beach weather.
The paved road next to the beach was wet, and there were puddles to negotiate. Dog walkers can use this beach in the morning, and a few were doing this.

Tranquil family beach
Jul 2021 • Family
Family orientated sandy beach. Private beach huts.
Public toilets. Free parking on main road overlooking beach.Short stroll down a paved steep.
Old cafe is up for lease and closed but quaint mobile drinks/sandwiches/icecream hut.
Life guard patrolled and bay inspector. You used to be able to hire a hut for £25 a day here but due to covid that's suspended.
Short walk up to a little Tesco.
To the right of the beach it's chalky/rocky so bring your sea shoes for that area but the rest to the middle and left is sandy.
I adore this beach for its relaxed feeling. No arcades.

Passed here whilst walking along the Viking Coastal Trail.
Jun 2021
We visited Westbrook Bay whilst walking a section of the Viking Coastal Trail between Minnis Bay and Margate on a midweek day. Being good weather, the beach here had a good number of bathers but was not ‘packed’. We noticed (pay & display) car parking not far away and also thought how clean the sands looked.
Public toilets were available here though although there were refreshment kiosks these were not operating at the time of our visit.
Nevertheless, we would consider bringing the grandchildren here for a beach day as opposed the much busier beaches just along the coast at Margate.

Sunny Morning stroll
Jan 2021
Walking this morning along the sea front from Margate to Westgate/
A brisk morning,with a slight chill and wind,with a temperature of 4 degs.
Still quite a few souls were out between 8-9am,mainly exercising or dog walking.
The sands were clean, and the air was clear.

One of my favourite Thanet beaches
Jun 2019 • Family
Love this beach because its family orientated...has a nice, friendly relaxed atmosphere.
No arcades in the background.Just a cafe serving food etc and that's it.
Bring your wind breakers and food. Park up the top but early.
Toilets on site and a lovely beach inspector. A disability wheelchair for the sand, life guards.
Bring your sea shoes as alot of the beach when the tide is out is chalky rocks but not polluted.
You can hire a beach hut with a gas cylinder and chairs.
Clean golden sand..

Ideal for a Christmas morning stroll
Dec 2018 • Couples
We've been coming to Margate since I was a child and this is the first time I have stepped into Westbrook beach, it's a lovely stretch of golden sand, much quieter than its busy neigbour and better for it, ideal for a winter walk, blue skies and all.

Love it
Sep 2018 • Couples
I've been going here since I was a kid and I'm 59 now. Love that it hasn't changed that much. Golden sand, blue sea and beach huts what more can you ask . Shame that the cafe is the only thing that's changed for the worse 🤷‍♀️

Our Favourite Beach!
Jun 2018 • Family
Clean and sandy, nice and quiet with no arcades, funfairs or noise, and free parking up on the street. We've been visiting for years.

Great for a family beach day.

Wonderful little beach
Aug 2018 • Family
We decided to head to the coast in this lovely weather and stumbled across Westbrook Bay, and so pleased we did.

I was so annoyed with myself that I didn’t take my swimming shorts as the sea was so blue and looked very clean. Compared with how our coastline can look, this place was amazing.

Lovely beach with a nice little cafe perched on the edge serving some well needed ice creams.

Great family fun.

Dogs now allowed (on leads) on the central part of the bay even in peak season day time.
Jun 2018 • Solo
Very pleased to be able to update a previous review of Westbrook Bay and report that even during the summer months dogs are allowed on the central area of the beach even during the hours of 10am to 6pm as long as they are on leads. Freedom at other times, but also, now, 10am to 6pm there's no need to walk dogs on the outer 3rds of the beach and then have to get back on the promenade to pass the central part of the beach.! A trial run for 2018. Very much appreciated.
