Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or Castle Entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team. Family fun include Jousting Tournaments each summer and is one of our most popular events.

Hever Castle is an excellent destination for a day out for both adults and children. The castle itself was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and offers a fascinating history of Tudor times. It is not too big so you can see most of it in an hour. I suggest visiting the castle early in the day before it gets... More

Hever Castle is only small, but very pretty. I enjoyed looking through the house, as they had some lovely old antiques, paintings and Anne Boleyn's Book of Hours. I think it is a shame that you can't take photos inside though, as you can so easily forget things. The highlight for me though was the garden! We stayed at the... More

Hever had been a recommendation from a relative living in England,as there were some family ties way back in history ( no, not the main ones!) so it was definitely on the list of many places to visit on our 5week holiday. Well, from our arrival, I knew this was going to be quite an interesting place, the sheer scale... More

We were overwhelmed by Hever. The gardens are fabulous, the landscape beautiful, the Tudor house and medieval keep fascinating, and the upkeep superbly maintained. First, the gardens. Italian gardens with statuary, formal bedding, a wonderful loggia and fountain with piazza, lead down to the man-made lake which offers boating and an 'African Queen' adventure but can be simply enjoyed for... Recently visited and had a great time. Gardens are truly beautiful and interesting - for adults anyway. The castle is worth visiting we have been several times and it never fails to impress. The kids loved the water maze - a bit smelly take swimwear and a change of clothes you will get wet. The yew maze is also good... More

I knew I had to go to the castle when I heard it was a Bolyen home. You can't take pictures inside the actual caslte which is a bummer, but I can tell you it was some of the most amazing woodwork I had ever seen. The time and craftsmanship was on point. The gardens.... oh man the garden. We... More

We took our two Grandaughters aged 12 and 7. They really enjoyed a tour of the castle and we had the audio guide which the 7 yr old found fun and interesting as listening to this was easier than her trying to read about each room. The weather turned out good so they were also able to enjoy the maze,... More

I have wanted to visit Hever for so long. It certainly did not disappoint. It appears to be very well run and cared for both internally, and in the gorgeous gardens. The guides were wonderful, they certainly brought the place to life. We spent ages soaking up the atmosphere of this special place.

This historic castle is a beauty , with the obvious connections with Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII, along with wonderful Italian gardens to wonder round and a huge maze.

Stunning. Well kept gardens lead to a majestic castle with plenty of history to digest. Knowleable guides are dotted around and food and drinks were well priced. Plenty of help was given to less mobile visitors which was pleasing to see. A spectacular joust rounded off the day for us. Plenty of events throughout the year so there definitely is... More
