Impressive English Heritage site + nice cafe.
Jun 2021
We've noticed this from the road on several occasions and finally got to visit.

Our visit was brief because it was raining, but nevertheless the Reculver Towers/Roman Fort are impressive and well worth a visit. Good display boards tell the story.

Ideal for coastal walking on a decent day. Nice cafe, with friendly/helpful young staff. Couple of car parks.

Interesting towers and lovely views
Jun 2021
There are two car parks here, named Country Park, and we drove past the first one to the second smaller one. It is a short walk up a slope to see the towers and the ruins. Certainly worth a stop.

Worth a visit
Apr 2021
We parked in the nearby carpark, which can get very busy, to do a circular walk from Reculver. We started by having a quick look around the ruins of the fort with its two towers standing defiantly while the rest of the structure is in ruins. Starting life as a Roman fort it was abandoned and then later used as an Anglo-Saxon Monastery. An early example of recycling maybe. The building is under the control of EH but is free to visit at any time.

Impressive towers and a cafe nearby
Jun 2021
Nice setting on the top of the cliffs, and can walk in either direction along the coast.
There is a cafe by the towers too, but there isn't much else to do at the towers as a sight-seeing place in their own right.

Ghostly Spot - Do not visit at night!
May 2021 • Couples
I have heard many ghost stories a about the kids crying at night that I wanted to visit. Saxon church, St. Mary’s, has skeletons of young children, which were dug up during the excavations in the 1960’s. Definitely recommend!

nice place to visit.

Historic towers with good beaches close by to grab a heavenly swim. Good for bikes too apparently. £1.80 per hour to park. Pub close by for a beer.
Very nice

Sublime EH tourist attraction
Apr 2021
I really enjoyed this tourist attraction it is an English Heritage site and is Free Entry and is open 24 hours a day. This one of my highlights of a recent Day Trip/Hike to Herne Bay from London. We hiked from Westgate on Sea to Herne Bay and this was especially impressive on route.
The site is the remains of a Roman Fort and an ancient church. The church Towers are a prominent landmark and we were able to admire these from afar as we hiked towards them from Westgate on Sea.We fully explored the site, information boards are provided to enlighten you about the Fort/Church.
Well worth seeing and I took many fine photos here.We also stopped off for lunch here, enjoyingthe sunshine and the views.
I am especially keen on anything to do with the Romans and this attraction fulfilled a need.
lol:)

Stunning location and views
May 2021 • Family
Really nice place to visit the structure is very impressive and nice grounds to explore, with beautiful beaches either side to explore also. The car park does get busy so go early if you can. Pub and cafe in walking distance also.

Imposing ruin well worth a visit
May 2021
Situated on the top of a hill above the sea and visible from miles around, the Reculver Towers are an imposing ruin and well worth a visit. Entrance is free and you walk around, in and on the ruins. There are two car parks nearby (in the Reculver Country Park) and take-away refreshments and snacks are available from the HatHats Coffee Company in the Reculver Country Park Visitors Centre. Toilets are also available there. When we were last there, meals were available at the recerntly reopened King Ethelbert Inn. We had a very tasty lunch.

Walk with views
Apr 2021 • Couples
A walk from Herne Bay to Reculver Towers offered some lovely views of either coast or grassland. You have the option of a coastal walk and beach or a higher path walk. Both are very pleasant, especially if the wind is warm and not strong!
