Stumbled upon this gem with friends & our 2 dogs on an overnight stay from Dover . Great genuine welcome from the bar man and locals alike . Lovely friendly comfy quaint micro pub serving great beer wine & gins

Thought it was full as not much capacity with Covid but they found us a lovely place in the delightful back room. About six beers on tap and I had their own golden ale and my wife had a nice glass of wine.
Just so friendly in there, lady running it and the other customers.
If you are in Herne Bay, you have to visit.

While wandering the real ale Armageddon that is Kent, it’s great to find a gem like The Firkin Frog. It’s a really great little place that sells excellent beer, unlike the more well known dysentery-inducing pint that dominates the rest of the county. They don’t serve any eurofizz lagers or kiddies alcopops either, which means that there aren’t any spannered 12 year olds throwing up on their boyfriend’s ankle tag in the corner while their mastiff curls one off in the garden, which is another bonus. The beers and ciders change regularly, are always in top condition and the atmosphere’s great. I’d recommend the Firkin Frog to anyone that’s reading this as a great place to have a beer, wine, cider or snack.
Unless you’re from London, or France, in which case it's really dreadful; you'll hate it, don't visit.

This is the nearest pub to my house and fortunately it serves a rather nice pint of ale (real)
Steve and Mark are always welcoming and have 3 - 4 ales of differing strength and colour.
Id spend more time in the pub gathering evidence for this review if only "er indoors" would let me.
The FF along with the BB (Bouncing Barrell) are most welcome additions to the beer scene in HB and long may they last.

Found this place that has recently opened in the bay just around the corner from me. What a great idea, a real ale house that serves propper beer and cider and keeps them well! And not a chav a or pikey in sight! The beer and ciders on offer change regularly and they even give you a loyalty card for a free pint on your 5th visit.
Proper beer at a good price, and not a Fosters or Stella badge in sight! What a great addition to Herne Bay

Herne Bays first Micro pub following the trail blazed by by the countries first the Butchers Arms in Herne. This place is founded on the great tradition of fantastic real ale and conversation. If you need a fizzy beer/alcoho pop/loud music then this place is not for you but there are many other watering holes close by whom will happily cater for your needs. There is a cozy snug room if you want to escape the banter or be alone with your friends. Alternatively you can rub shoulders (literally this is a micro pub!) with an eclectic mix of characters and lovers of beer, cider, pork pies, scotch eggs and pork scratchings.
They serve soft drinks for those nominated to drive or need a rest from the fine ales.
It is also a stones throw from the fantastic oyster & chop house and the Ghandi curry house. So drop in and say hi to Steve & Mark who clearly know more about beer than they do dress sense!

The second of Herne Bay's two new micropubs established in 2013. The Firkin Frog, run by Steve and Mark, is typically tiny, with a small bar in the square room at the front and a small snug bar behind. Four or five real ales are always available, plus they have some decent ciders like Kentish Pip. A cheeseboard or pork pie is at hand if you are here for a sesh too. Now closed Sundays but open Mondays instead. Keep your phone switched to silent and your 'chatting to strangers' signal ON and you'll have an enjoyable visit! :-)

Popped in to try the beer. Great little place to escape to. Anyone that goes in there must try the pickled onions! Friendly pub and a good place to be in. Keep it up chaps.

Great pub. As with all the other pubs we have been to in Herne Bay we have felt very welcome and included with local conversations. Reasonable prices and even better a discount for Camra members
