Sunday lunch
May 2019 • Couples
What a little gem. A delightful pub with obvious regulars very welcoming. We had a lovely Sunday roast couldn’t fit in a pudding as was too full up. Would definitely recommend the lamb, and the cauliflower cheese was one of the best I’ve had.

Dry and bland food, bad service.
Feb 2019 • Family
Went here for a special family occasion. rubbish service all round feels like it’s kids with no interest taking your order. No one came over to see if we wanted sauces, drinks, steak knives. 2 meals we pre ordered a week ago never came out, so therefor half the table didn’t eat, everything was a massive problem, food was dry and bland, you could of bathed in the oil in the pasta, refused to pay the total bill as it was so bad, waited for the manager for 10 minutes and got threatening messages informing us they were going to contact the police (which is illegal). If you pre order food a week before you would hope they don’t mess it up, but this place fails the most simplest tasks of cooking nice food with a good service. There name certainly true! First time there and last time ever going. Rude place

Shame on you for taking our money and treating us like something that’s stuck to the bottom of your shoe..actually it probably would’ve tasted better than the rubbish we was served..#nonice#youwontbearound#thistenextyear

Xmas lunch
Dec 2018 • Family
Drove 17 miles to have xmas dinner @ £60.00 a head for 6 adults and 1 child. To be faced with cold congeled soup with mushrooms that were so hard you could break your teeth on them. Prawn cocktail where the salad had obviously been made the day before it was going brown and old. Pate that was hot with no toast. We had to ask for toast and the soup no way could we eat it. We asked for it to be replaced with the pate. The chef(i use that term losely came out in filthy and i mean filthy black clothes) from the kitchen in such an agressive manner we told him it was horrible. And could not eat it. And then a tirade of abuse from him shouting at us in a packed resteraunt IF YOU DONT LIKE IT YOU CAN JUST F%^&CK OF. Trust me people We were not standing for that. Ending with an argument to try and get our money back they kept £120.00 and said it was a non refundable deposit. And left us fuming WITH OF COURSE NO BLOODY XMAS DINNER. SAYING WE COMPLAINED ON PURPOSE. like anyone is going to drive 34 miles round trip to go home upset and 7 people hungry.
TRUST ME ITS SOMEWHERE I WOULD NEVER GO AGAIN. MY ADVISE IS DONT EVER GO TO THIS DISGUSTING PLACE FOR FOOD AND CERTAINLY DONT EXPECT FRIENDLY SERVICE.

First Class

Called in for Sunday lunch and we're met by smiling locals (always a good sign). Lady behind the bar worn a big smile when greeting us and served drinks restaurant staff again all smiles and very tentative. The Lamb dinner we had was the nicest we've had in a long time. if lived around here this pub would be a place I would go back time and time again.

The best afternoon tea
May 2018 • Couples
The best afternoon tea we've had for a long time. Generously big portions of sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones, all home made and fresh, light and tasty. Delicious variety and did not need dinner after that, despite having skipped lunch. We will definitely be regular customers.

Proper pub
Sep 2016 • Couples
If you think a proper pub is a thing of the past, then call in here and have your faith restored! Friendly, welcoming pub which is obviously full of local characters. The ales are always served just as they should be - Harvey's, Bombardier and London Pride - and you will be welcomed in join in the banter and laughter. And don't leave without eating the great food! This place is exactly what a pub should be. It's proper!!

cosy pub oozing country pub charm
Passed this pub many a time and we decided to stop and try it out. Upon entering you could sense a fantastic atmosphere with lots of local banter. We took our drinks to a little couples both facing the road and some glorious countryside views. One sound that remains with us is the constant laughter and banter of the locals. Will be going back ASAP
