I am ashamed that despite living in Herne Bay for a little over fifteen years and being aware of the Kavanagh Cinema it is only today that I made my first visit.
My three daugher's, my wife and I attended a lunch time showing. We all had a drink and the girls had some popcorn and a bar of chocolate and the whole event cost just over ÂŁ50. The tickets of somewhere like the Odeon etc would have cost more than this alone without any treats for the film.
We all liked the cosiness of the auditorium but even so the screen was a good size and the sound was at a comfortable level that was not too loud.
Although we only visited for the first time today we are already planning to return for a series of films our children want to see and it is likely we will also attend some day time showings on days off etc.
A little gem that we are glad we found. True, it is not the last word in cinema entertainment and this is reflected in the price but that said we are very happy and will be returning.

Value for money and a trip to the cinema isn't something I've had together in a long while. My local used to be Bluewater.
The Kavanagh Cinema is a gem! I just love the cinema for transporting myself away to another world for a couple of hours... and here it's just a fiver a ticket!
Had a great evening seeing the Aretha Franklin biopic, "Respect"... fantastic!
They show the new releases and more, great sound, lovely staff and spotlessly clean too!
Covid wise all staff wore masks. There was plenty of space to distance and it was properly clean
Hot, soft and alcoholic drinks and a big range of refreshments at sensible prices.
Yep, a night at this cinema is just the ticket. I'll be back! 🙄

We went to the cinema Saturday evening after deciding to check out the small cinema in Herne Bay. What a lovely surprise! It felt like going back a coupe of decades (in a good way). The staff were very friendly, the snacks were reasonably priced and the tickets were amazing value for money. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon.

I would have given this cinema a top rating but there was an incident. We were being served by a new member of staff, a young lad. He made a mistake with the drink, I told him not to worry we would have it anyway. A man who I presume was the manager then came over and completely belittled the new member of staff. Infront of everyone. Rolling his eyes and announcing "he's new that one" those were the exact words used.
This poor lad looked like he wanted the ground to eat him up, the manager then persisted infront of the que of people to tell him he needed to focus.
We have all been new at a job, we have all made mistakes, how those mistakes are handled make all the difference. Humiliating someone is never the solution.
Anyway we went off to watch sing 2 and the kids enjoyed the experience. No faults with anything other than this. Perhaps more manager training might be worth looking in to.

Lovely local cinema. Comfortable seats and tremendous value for money. It's also licenced do you can enjoy a glass of wine etc if you fancy it. We are so lucky to have the Kavanagh and much prefer it to the flashy chains.

Lovely little cinema, good value, clean & tidy. Nice staff and right next to a massive car park.
We took our toddler for his first ever cinema experience to an autism friendly screening and this worked well for us.

Do NOT attempt a 17.45 showing of ANY 12A film at the Kavanagh! My two daughters and myself went to see the very emotive film The Fault In Our Stars at this time. We suffered disrespectful behaviour throughout the film from groups of young girls in the row in front and behind us. Loud inappropriate language and use of phones. Had any member of staff entered the auditorium at ANY point in the film they would have witnessed it! but no one came in. On leaving I mentioned the shocking behaviour of these young people (?) The young lad behind the desk said "well no one came out to complain", yeah right, who is going to do that? One miss the film & two suffer the ridicule of a group already showing complete disregard for everyone else! This is the second film we've seen at the Kavanagh that's been ruined by anti social behaviour. Before contemplating a visit consider the target audience and viewing time very carefully. We just threw our money away! Come on Kavanagh take charge and get your staff to check inside the auditorium during the film. It ain't rocket science given the time, certification & your demographic that such behaviour, sadly, can be inevitable.

Fail to see why others go to the multiplexes. Two screens with adequate seating, showing all the recent releases frequently throughout the day. Usual range of cinema munchies, with coffee available too.Staff are lovely, there's usually spaces (u can pre book)& it's ÂŁ5 (or less!!).Oh, and if you are around on a Wednesday, check out the coffee club and mum's and toddler showings.

Following on from my previous review, I have discovered the Kavanagh has a film club on Wednesdays at 11.00 a.m. for the amazing cost of ÂŁ4.00 which also includes a complementary cup of coffee. Well worth a try.

A very nice two screen cinema which is modern enough and comfortable. It shows all the new releases quite quickly and has special Wednesday morning screenings of old classics with a free cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit. Its nice somethimes not to get into the hussle and bustle of the big multi plex cinema and have a cosy quite and enjoyable film.
