Nice little place tucked away in a side street
Nov 2019
I was here to play in a band. It is a small pub, with real ale beers. Friendly staff and very olde worldy, with a nautical theme.

THE WORST PUB IN MEDWAY
Aug 2019
I used to go to this pub as it's my local. Now the pub is being missmanaged by the current landlord - there is no consideration to the residents of Brompton who have to put up with regular music nights making excessive and unnecessary noise, most of the locals have been banned, people make noise when they leave the pub. It's a disgrace and constitutes a "nightmare neighbour". This landlord should never run a pub again. Thankfully he is going in November and good riddance!!

We went here for a Sunday lunch and booked for 12.00. When we went into the pub they were still setting up and clearing away from the night before so we had to sit and wait until 12.15 with people cleaning around us. We were shown to a table by the door, which was cold every time someone came in. This table wasn't set either and got set when we were sat there.

When the food arrived which wasn't very long after it was nice but we were out of by having to wait and being cold by the door.

Surely if you have a booking you make sure the place is set up and ready to go for that time or don't take bookings until later.

Good beers

Nice beers and happy staff. But appetizers, starters and mains stop to be served almost 4 hours before the restaurant is closed.

Friendly pub with lots of character.

Popped in for a quick beer with my 5 year old. Everyone was very friendly and there was an excellent selection of beers and ciders (including a good selection of Belgian beers). Prices were also reasonable.

Good standard pub with military connections
This is one of several pubs close together, all with military connections to the Royal dockyard at the bottom of the hill. Good beer, friendly landlady, nice garden. Opens early and sits on the route of the Saxon Shore way.

welcoming and friendly atmosphere

I have visited this little gem of a pub quite a few times, i go on a Sunday evening mainly to attend a low key acoustic music night which is brilliant, when you are inside the pub you could almost feel like you are in a Kentish country pub in the middle of the greenbelt rather than in Brompton Medway. Lovely atmosphere and staff too, I will return for the jam night for sure and will look forward to doing so.

Great place to see familiar faces and sample an array of well-groomed beers. Lovely and friendly and rough around the edges, all in the nicest way! Live music often on offer too!

Good Find
Nov 2016 • Couples
Combination of visiting family and a plannned visit to the Naval Dockyard led to us finding this quirky pub (with rooms - currently 2). A 15 minute walk away from the centre of Chatham (bus station).
The place is full of Naval memorabelia and as we arrived on Remembrence day, also full of old sailors.
Staying 2 nights. the first night we took advantage of the Friday Special, an enormous piece of Cod. with chips and peas.
The 2nd night we were with family so didn't eat there..
Rooms were comfortable. ours came with a four poster bed.
The rooms are accessed directly from the bar, up a narrow twising staircase ( not for the less able)
A hotchpotch of antique/junk shop furniture in the room added to the feel of the place.
Basic bathroom which would have been better served with decent sized bath towels but that was our fault for not asking, I am sure they would have been rustled up.
If you are a must have big breakfast eater, especially if you want it early, it would be wise to make arrangments early.
Liam and his staff were all you could ask for, knowlegeable, and friendly (as were the customers).
It would be hard to find a more friendly pub, especially one that serves a great range of real ales and ciders.
We would certainly return if we were in the area,
