Great area for easy walking.
Sep 2021
On arrival there were plenty of parking spaces, free for the whole day if you want to stay that long. On wandering around there were more small parking areas too. Paths were clearly marked and a visit to the visitors centre gave us good information.
There were lots of dog walkers so clearly a popular spot for locals.
The cafe offered sandwiches and hot and cold drinks.
The toilets were clean.
If I the area again we would definitely visit.

Had a walk round the county park today to see a bench that has been put down there in memory of Tony walker a very dear friend and his wife who passed away in 2019 what a lovely place to walk round with your dog and friends even more so for me to be able to sit on his seat after a walk round it's nice that these nice places are still open for people to enjoy

Wonderful day
Oct 2020
We started the day with a shopping trip at Gillingham town centre. The pedestrianised High Street is lined with trees, benches and familiar shops such as Costa Coffee, Game, New Look, Wilko and the Card Factory. There is also a good selection of charity shops, banks and independent retailers. There are several nearby car parks and there are lots of places to eat and drink.

After shopping we visited the Riverside County Park located along side the Medway estuary. The Park is 100 hectares with lots of wildlife, cycle paths, walks, picnic areas and a fantastic children's play area. Parking is free and there is a cafe where we enjoyed a cup of coffee and a snack. The views at the park are amazing and I would definitely recommend a visit.

No wonder Turner liked his seascapes
Mar 2020
As far as we know, JMW Turner never visited Gillingham (or New Brompton as it was called in his day).
But if he had visited the banks of the Medway downstream from Chathamhe would have had magnificent skies, wavelets and mudflats, plus trees, sails and workmen.
Today the workmen have mocved on, but the rest is there, and enjoyed by the many people who visit the Riverside country park to exercvise themselves or their dogs, probably unaware of the industrial uses to which the riverfront was put until the Second World War.
With Corvid-19 now meaning people across Europe should stay away from everyone else, the Riverside CP could become the lung that old and young will be seeking in the months to come.
If they do there will be plenty of skyscapes to enjoy, and thousands of pintails, widgeon and teal to watch among the hulks or over their heads.
