Been coming here for years. Nice rustic pub. Lovely fire in the winter. Have eaten in the restaurant a few times and always had a good meal

We were all looking forward to our Christmas works meal out. Drinks first at the bar, friendly & knowledgeable bar tender. Sat down to a long table, not enough place settings and it was though we hadn't given the right numbers, which clearly we had as we had to pre order. Starters arrived, very nice, beautifully presented and lovely flavours. We asked for some more drinks, goodness -fancy that! The servers attitude was one of annoyance to be asked. The main courses arrived, again, the presentation was lovely. One of our party's meals was wrong and the irritation on the servers face was plain to see. We asked for some parsnips that were missing and some more gravy to be told no! There were only enough parsnips for one on each plate. The gravy arrived 10 mins later. We lost some of our Christmas spirit, though sadly there wasn't much atmosphere in the first place. At least the servers attitude was in keeping with winter-FROSTY! Chef(s) you did great. Servers, you didn't. I won't be hurrying back.

We had booked to stay here for the weekend with friends. We were trying to have a weekend away to forget stuff going on in our life’s currently and also it was a birthday celebration so planned a big meal there in the evening. When we checked in we were told there are no tellys in the rooms due to a refurbishment issue but they would knock 25% off the room. We accepted this although slightly annoyed as there’s nothing we could do once there, perhaps a call ahead and notice would of been nice. On entering the rooms first impression was good the room looked cosy and comfortable however when you get to the bathroom the tiles in the shower were full of black mould. Very off putting for a room wanting £125 a night but again I let it go as we were away for the weekend to relax. We went downstairs and managed to find a table at the back of the pub for some lunch. Food was nice no issues there. Pub however was so drafty and cold, so we made our way to our rooms to get some down time before our table booking in the evening. Our friends in the room next door stated how cold their room was and there was no heat coming from the radiator. This was fixed after they mentioned it to staff at the bar. However not long after my friend was asking me to come see the toilet in the bathroom clearly upset I went to look. What I was met with was utter disbelief for a room let out to paying guests. The toilet was absolutely filthy see pics attached. I then checked the bath and my hand was black with grime where I had ran my hand along it. They asked for the manager on duty to come and inspect it, she did and stated it was completely unacceptable.... but we would have to wait for it to be cleaned as she’s busy right now. On 3 occasions my friend said it’s not good enough it needs sorting now it’s an infection control issue, each time the answer was I can’t now it will have to be later! Every opportunity was given for her to make this right or offer compensation while we wait for it to be sorted but nothing was offered! At that point seeing my friend clearly distressed and angry I said pack up we are going home and that’s what we did. We were not charged for the rooms as we didn’t stay and we were refunded our meal from earlier that day but these were only because my friend demanded this as compensation for our wasted time there and in no way was it offered by them! On the way out of the pub as leaving staff pulling pints were telling punters about us as we were standing right there! We stated how unprofessional talking about us really!! A full complaint logged to them and Shepherd Neame but again we have been left disappointed and angered by there responses to us, lies and excuses. There offer of 50% off a room elsewhere was declined by us all due to the unsatisfying way in which it was all handled and we were made to feel. Shame on you Sun Inn and Shepherd Neame. Learn customer services and that the customer is always right. Also learn how to clean a toilet and bath it’s not difficult. Utter disgrace and regardless of the reply we get from this we know the truth and have no reasons whatsoever to lie or make this up, No Compensation would of been acceptable and we weren’t out to get anything other then a genuine apology from them all.

Stayed at The Sun Inn as part of the brewery trip deal. Excellent value for money, food and room excellent, would definitely go again. They were very helpful with my wife’s dairy intolerance.

A few friends and I decided to see some more of Kent. First stop was Faversham. What a delightful place to visit! We stayed at the Sun Inn—very olde Worldy-like. Excellently done to a modern spec even though it’s from the 16th century. Also they have a band every Friday. We danced and sang (and drank) the night away to Lost Weekend. They were excellent! Lastly, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
