- cubsurAlbufeira, Portugal83,213 contributionsVery good beer at a good price!Just popped in a for a quick one early afternoon after a long walk. Four draught beers on offer, I had Rother Valley Hopper and Northiam IPA, both at a good price. Not many customers (it was 4pm!) but to me has all the ingredients for a good night out.Visited September 2022Written October 1, 2022
- Matt F3 contributionsA proper pub for proper people. What a fabulous pub to discover. We wish we had made the walk across town sooner. The staff here are very friendly and know how properly to pull a pint. We started drinking here in early September. On my Girlfriend and my 3rd ever visit to the Eli (over a 7 day period) the very friendly attentive barmaid Abbie had our preferred dimpled pint jugs off the shelf and onto the bar within seconds of us walking in without us reminding her. What great service. Jim and his team are all excellent communicators, professional in their skills and their efficiency and also very welcoming. I hope that we will be drinking here for many years to come.Visited September 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2021
- Sousaphonegent1 contributionBrilliant. As ever, an amazing experience at a proper pub, and I'd wager, the finest freehouse in Faversham. Covid guidelines were, as expected, meticulously adhered to at this stalwart of Alehouses. There was something for every palate on this occasion with the usual ever changing selection of local and regional ales. Adhering to my own drinking guidelines which are loosely based on similar CAMRA directives for the seasoned drinker. I remained in situ for my second pint and did not leave thereafter until closing time. Conclusion: Highly Recommended, Sine Timore Aut Favore.Visited April 2021Traveled soloWritten April 22, 2021
- Philip ORoyal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom45 contributionsNot very welcoming.Lovely looking pub, nice interior. Don't you dare ask for a 0% alcoholic drink though. I asked if they had alcohol free gin and was told that that was called tonic water, which is just a ridiculous comment. Wouldn't hurt to just have one 0% gin for people who don't want to drink/are driving, would it. For a first time there I was not made feel welcome at all, which I'm sure they don't care about anyway as I'm not a local.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten August 6, 2023
- Mik LBapchild, United Kingdom48 contributionsFavourite Faversham PubIn my view this is the benchmark for what a traditional English pub should be. A beautiful building warm and welcoming with a great selection of Ales. Popular with locals and a venue I always aim for if I'm visiting Faversham.Visited December 2022Traveled with friendsWritten January 9, 2023
- squiremullyMaidstone, United Kingdom19 contributionsGreat GardenGreat beer and building. Loved the garden in the Summer. Lots of Naval memorabilia for decoration which I assume is connected to the owner? The bar staff are great but I've been told the owner is a bit of a grouch. There is something a little unpleasant about the place which comes from the clientele. It all seems a bit Brexit for me with lots of smug Faversham people telling everyone how great they are. Should be delightful but it just isn't.Visited March 2022Written April 11, 2022

- Peter WWhitstable, United Kingdom77 contributionsNo real cider - poor for a pub with this reputationTrekked to the other end of town to find this pub with its great reputation, only to be offered pumped Aspalls or bottled cider. It's clearly a nice pub with a good atmosphere early on a Saturday evening. Service was nice and friendly. But that was a real let-down.Visited November 2017Traveled as a coupleWritten November 29, 2017

As you drive into Faversham down the Mall, on the right is The Elephant.
A pub of much repute with Jim the landlord, always helpful when making choices and I have seen on many occasion giving thirsty clientele a sample.
Literally 1 minute walk from Faversham train station if you head top road (London Road).
