About
Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

Shepherd Neame Tour

I gave this as a gift and the recipients really enjoyed themselves. They thought it was very interesting and informative. They received a jute bag between two and chose various bottles which they had tasted on the tour.

By far and away the best brewery tour I've been on.

Genuine historic old brewery, not just stainless steel vessels in an industrial unit. Great to see. The original buildings and equipment intertwined with modern day processes followed by a great tasting session at the end of the tour. Having been on several brewery tours this by far and away the best. A real family business, with the tour lead by our enthusiastic guide Georgie, her husband being one of the brewers, we didn't just see the brewing process but explored the centuries old buildings. Faversham is a really nice town too. Worth including one of the gift packages from the shop available with the entry tickets Highly recommended.

Martin was an excellent tour guide, he was engaging, funny and full of interesting facts! The tour was an ideal length and the tasting at the end tied all of the information learnt together well. I would highly recommend!

Shepherd Neame Brewery Tour

An excellent tour of the brewery and its history followed by a tasting. The Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly and brought the whole thing to life.
The Neame Family should be commended for looking after 200 Listed Buildings so well. It's amazing they have time to brew any beer!

Excellent tour and meal

Fantastic tour of Britains oldest brewer. I use to live in Kent and have always really liked their pubs and drinks, and this tour was a great insight into their company.

Our tour guide was excellent, he was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. It was really cool to see how they’re still operating in their original building since the 1800s! We arrived a little late due to traffic and the staff were very accommodating which we really appreciated. The beer tasting was also really good, a larger and two ales to try. To finish off an excellent evening, a two course meal and a drink which were also fantastic. I had the beef and my friend had the vegetarian option which she also really enjoyed.

I’d recommend checking out parking options before you visit, the visitor centre doesn’t have any parking as they’re based in an old building in the centre of Faversham.

You can purchase from their shop and the end of the tour which was great for us as we can’t get most of their products in Milton Keynes.

Highly recommend their tour.

A memorable trip

Martin was a marvellous host and showed all the aspects of a fascinating brewery. The way they have maintained their history and kept the old equipment to show the public is excellent. Well worth a couple of hours of your time.
Thank you

What an enjoyable experience.Felt very welcome, and our you guide, Martin, was ideal for me our group, and gave us a full informative talk at every stage of f the tour.A bonus for us was the fact they had the steam engines running that afternoon..a sight not often seen nowadays .
The tasting was good too,..6 beers to try, each being described by Martin, who is really a cider drinker!!!
They were all good.
Finally,we exited via the gift shop, and of course had to get a couple of bottles to remind us of our nice afternoon .
Thanks Shepherd Neame...a great experience.

Well worth a visit

Went with my dad and really enjoyed a very informative tour, loved walking through all the old buildings, seeing all the brewing processes and the old vehicles and pub signs. The tasting was great, decent amount of 6 beers. The entrance to the visitor centre was a bit hard to find but a lovely lady came and met us when we rang for directions. Would definitely really recommend and Faversham was very pretty for a walk around.

A great experience

The welcome centre is such a lovely old building, all of the beers are on tap and the gift shop has something for everyone. The tour was very interesting, so much history to the site. It wasn't too technical or too dumbed down. A very enjoyable experience. The tasting session at the end was a welcome bonus.

Great tour, guide and beer

A very good tour, and that was down to a great guide, Helen. Then great beer at the tasting.

If you visit one brewery then Sheps should be high on your list.
