Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer....

Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

In summary: well worth it despite the tour being somewhat curtailed at present due to rebuilding works. Tour commences in the in-house bar (where else?) so it's worth arriving early and settling down with a pint before the tour starts. Tour lasts about an hour, a mix of live (and lively!) guided tour and video films, culminating in a guided... More

Very informative tour enjoyed with my father and father in law. Great samples given of the great beer. 2 hour tour, just to warm you up ready to head for your next pub

Booked the tour just for myself on a Saturday and enjoyed a thorough history from the guide about Shepherd Neame and how long its been there. Of course the beer tasting was great afterwards which helps you decide what beers to buy from the shop...Thats my excuse anyway!

An interest in beer is preferable, but isn't necessary as the hostess was extremely knowledgeable and made sure everyone of the visitors was involved. If you are Faversham way, well worth a visit.

Decided to take a wee trip into Kent and Faversham was where we chose being a lover of ales we decided to give the Shepherd Neame Brewery a visit. Admission is £11.50pp and there is ample parking nearby. £4 for up to 4 hours. It's a 5 minute walk from the car park to the visitor centre. On arrival we... More

This was my first brewery tour and I hope it won't be my last. We had a great tour guide (John) who was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and made the tour very interesting and fun. Even my wife and teenage daughters enjoyed it!

The most comprehensive Brewery tour I have experienced. An excellent guide and a very generous tasting. A night in the Sun Inn could not be bettered. A superb room, excellent food and very friendly service.

Interesting tour of the brewery. Even though the brew house was closed for our visit (installing new mash tuns) the tour guide was engaging and knowledgable, and overall this was a pleasant experience. The beer tasting was fun afterwards. Although not all beers were to my taste I think there will be something for everyone - even though this is... More

We had visited the Brewery on passing by in 2015. This year we stayed in Faversham for a week and after checking the website, found out that the mash tuns of the brewery were being replaced. For that reason the tour of the brewery was slightly changed so that you could now visit the small test-brewery where new recipes are... More
