About
Take a look behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer. You guide will take you through the heart of the brewery so you can see the traditional mash tuns; taste natural mineral water from the brewery’s well; try some malted barley; smell locally-grown Kentish hops; see bygone delivery vehicles and step into a recreated cooper’s workshop. Finally there’s a fascinating tutored tasting of Shepherd Neame’s Kentish ales and speciality lagers. Tours run most days - advance booking is strongly recommended and you should allow 2 hours for your visit

Incredible experience at The Old Brewery Store
Hired the venue for a big birthday and it was about as perfect as it could be. 2 well-sized rooms easily accommodated my 80 guests. The band were great, set-up was excellent with in-house lighting complementing what the band brought along. Staff were friendly and attentive, nobody queued very long at the bar. Highly recommended.
Thank you for the recommendation and the lovely review!

    Great experience for beer lovers!
Booked this with a group of friends in Faversham for the week. Very interesting talk and tour, but the high spot was the tasting of 6 beers afterwards. Nick gave good insights into what to look for in a beer. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful experience, I wasn’t too sure what to expect from our trip to this brewery but it didn’t disappoint. Sarah our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the brewery, from its history to how sustainable they are today. Could not recommend this experience highly enough. Oh and wonderful beer and food too!!
Thank you for the recommendation! We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit!

    History, tour and tasting
Fab. Loved the history, tour and tasting. Sarah the guide made it intetesting and amusing. We particularly enjoyed hearing about the source of water and that it is also good for champagne. And about witches, of course.

    Beer was good
The tour was better than expected, lots of history, information on all aspects of brewing as expected but done in such a way that it was informative, with lots of light entertainment thrown in. Laura is a brilliant tour shepherdess would definitely recommend it. Food was exceptional.
Thank you for the wonderful review!

    Well worth it!
Really enjoyed this - Sarah took us on a tour of the brewery, with her expert explanation of the different brewing stages and processes. The tour took about 80mins and was always interesting. The tasting was great - she took us through the different beers, explaining their flavours/smells and how the ingredients create them. They provide some of their lesser known beers for this, so even if you're familiar with the usual Spitfire/Bishop's Finger stuff you may well get something unfamiliar to surprise you. Excellent stuff!
Thank you for the wonderful review!

    Shepherd Neame Brewery tour
Went on a tour of the Shepherd Neame Brewery yesterday 19/7/23. The tour started off great with a very knowledgeable tour guide (Billy Shepherd) but 2/3 into the tour my wife fell ill. Billy and 3 other members of staff were excellent. They helped my wife out of the brewery and into the tour waiting area and stayed with her until she felt better. Billy then took us to see parts of the tour that we had missed and we were also offered another tour in the afternoon. My wife can only comment on how pleased she was at the care and attention that she received. Thank you again Shepherd Neame.
Thank you for your review and your comments! We are so pleased you managed to see the rest of the brewery and we hope your wife is feeling better!

A fantastic way to while away a couple of hours!
Whilst visiting Faversham for a few days, we decided to visit ‘The Oldest Brewery in the Uk”. We weren’t disappointed, Our guide Laura made the tour interesting & amusing. She had excellent knowledge of the whole process & its history. The bonus at the end of the tour was getting to sample some of the varied brews! Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed! Mikey & Boo x

    Brilliant!!!
We went on a Sunday morning brewery tour and tasting, which was really enjoyable - insightful and tasty too!!! Our guide, Nick, was not only very knowledgeable and competent (Despite being a cider drinker from the West Country!), but also great fun. The tour is well worth while. Will happily go again.
Thank you for the 5* review! We are so pleased you had a great time and we'd love to see you come back!

My wife and I booked this tour as part package from Shepherd Neame. We stayed at The Sun Inn with dinner bed & breakfast and tour of the brewery. Good value at £125 and the food at The Sun was excellent.
It was a great tour and very interesting I would highly recommend it. I found out that larger if brewed correctly takes about six weeks to brew, were normal ale takes around two weeks, therefore larger is more expensive to brew so costs more at the pump. But the largers most people buy are not brewed this way, there made in a day and are often brewed using cheap ingredients. So don't drink this rubbish, if you like larger, drink the real thing. :)

Very enjoyable visit to Shepherd Neame brewery which was a Christmas present from my son. Our guide Linda was very warm, personable and informative as she took us on the tour. We didn't feel rushed and the tastings at the end were good fun. The brewery, as the oldest in Britain, is a fascinating collection of buildings and we learnt a lot about the brewing process as well as local history.

Had my 30th party here. Was greeted by 3 security staff who made guests feel uncomfortable. The music was turned off early and the lights were turned on an hour before the party was due to finish despite paying the extra £150 for the extra late hour. The DJ was told to play slower music because too many people were dancing! Really disappointed. No assistance from management to try to rectify the issue afterwards. I was not refunded the £150 extra fee I paid for the extra final hour. Really disappointed as this was a 30th party. Do not have your party here.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour around this very old brewery. The tour guide Chris was a mine of interesting information and brought to life the processes involved in the production of this much loved beverage. The tasting session was much appreciated by my husband. If you happen to be in Faversham and enjoy manufacturing
history, beautiful architecture and beerI highly recommend a visit.

Brilliant tour felt safe the whole way round, fantastic tour guide, to be honest we did the evening tour back on 2019 before lockdown and this tour other than tasting the grain was almost the same. Our tour guide was very informative in a very easy way to understand, also very enterntaing. Brilliant well done in these strange times. The evening meal was fab to compliments to the chef.

I visited Shepherd Neame on Saturday with my friend, we both grew up locally but have never visited the brewery before. The tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Linda (hope I remembered that right!) was very friendly and spoke enthusiastically about the history of Shepherd Neame, the brewing process and the beer itself! We enjoyed the tutored tasting at the end too. Its great value for £18 you get an in depth, interesting and informative tour round and 6 different beers to taste!
I'd highly recommend to anyone who likes beer :)

My wife and I were treated to an evening of a very enjoyable six course meal with a suitable beer enjoyed with every course. The food was excellent served hot and efficiently by the very professional staff in the historic building of the Shepherd Neame visitors centre. There was a commentary from Deane Martin about each beer we were served. Diane is very knowledgeable about the beers and the history of Shepherd Neame
This is a brilliant evening and I thoroughly recommend you try it. Top Marks to the staff at the visitors centre

I booked this tour as my husband likes Whitstable Bay Pale Ale but I didn't realise how interesting and informative it would be.
Linda was an amazing guide, providing lots of snip its of information, allowing plenty of time to look around and take photos. We tasted some barley, hops and the water from the well.
At the end of the tour, we were given 6 beers to taste and told how to judge a good beer by it' appearance, smell and taste.
This was an enjoyable afternoon, especially as the staff were so helpful and friendly.

The whole tour was really interesting and informative. It was well delivered by a lady called Sarah who really knew what she was talking about and involved the visitors . At the end there was a tasting session with 6 ales to try, followed by a visit to the brewery shop which was well stocked with a wide range bèers and merchandise! The whole tour was great value for money! A Saturday morning well spent!

We had an evening of fascinating insight into the history and workings of the brewery. The tasting session was informative and introduced us to some lovely beers we had not tried before and the food was delicious. Martin was welcoming, informed, amusing and eloquent in his delivery of the tour and his colleague supported him as the perfect host. Would definitely recommend. Very good value for money.
