Well worth a seaside stroll
Aug 2021
Right on the edge of town, this community project is a charming destination for a stroll along the seafront and when we wandered by there was a mobile coffee stand which was doing good business. A lot of hard work by volunteers has made this a very pleasant place to take a seat and just breathe in the sea air.

What a perfect gem of local collaboration!
Jul 2021
The Sandown Castle Community Garden (recently featured on Gardeners' World on BBC) is a fantastic example of a group of local people, taking their local environment into their own hands and making it simply more pleasant, both for themselves and for everyone who passes by. In collaboration with the local council it's now a truly inspirational place. You can also get a coffee or snack there too from the brilliant 'horsebox' run by Hog and Bean (from the town).

Beautiful little place to visit
Sep 2020 • Family
Me and the children love to visit Sandown Castle Gardens. There’s a large patch of grass where we like to kick a ball about and sometimes have a picnic. The flowers are beautiful and so well looked after. One of the volunteers also paints rocks and hides them in the walls of the garden for passers by to find- my son loves when he finds one.
The location also offers beautiful views of the beach and golf course. It’s not a big garden but there are a few walks you can do from here, or access the beach.
The recent addition of a hot drink/snack van is a very welcome one- lovely to be able to grab a coffee and enjoy the views.

Catch up with friends.
Sep 2020 • Friends
Have met up with friends since lock down many a time. We either take seats or use benches (there are quite a few) The gardens are such a site in bloom and coffee from coffee truck is delicious. All set beside the sea. A beautiful place.

Lovely place to enjoy flowers, sea and coffee!!
Aug 2020 • Couples
It’s worth a walk to visit the gardens on the original site of Sandown castle where a team of volunteers have worked very hard to make a picturesque display of flowers. You can enjoy a cup of coffee from The Hog and Bean mobile situated at the end of the promenade whilst you sit and enjoy the sea views or the gardens as there are benches to shelter from the sea breeze.
