Lovely atmosphere, but some food not very good
Sep 2021
I was disappointed with my Asparagus Soup. It had not been strained and had lots of woody strands/threads left in it. My friend had Salmon which took such a long time to be served. She found that the centre was almost ice cold when she had a couple of mouthfuls. She had griping pains that evening and the next morning too. My other 7 friends were fine with the food they had chosen as they hadn't had soup or salmon.

What a great experience

Enjoyed a lovely evening drinking outside. The flower looked amazing, and the covid measures put in place were first class. The lady on door made sure I let my details and explained the one way system at the bar. The tables were regularly cleaned by a couple of girls who clearly love their job. A big well done to The Landlord and staff for keeping everyone safe.

Iconic Pub
Iconic pub on the seafront with a fabulous display outside. Very nice inside too and although we just stopped for a drink we were made to feel very welcome. Sat outside in the sunshine and nice atmosphere on a warm sunny day.

Overnight stay with friends
May 2019
Stayed here to facilitate a game of golf locally.
We were two couples and loved our stay.
Bedrooms: small but had everything we needed. Paid a small extra amount to have a sea view and well worth it. Bed was comfy and bathroom very clean and functional. Could do with a small shelf to put one’s own toiletries on but that’s just a minor wish for!
The bar: we had dinner in the bar and a prime table to watch the champions league footie!
Had an excellent dinner. Shared some calimari and a pint of prawns/crab/smoked salmon. Lovely! Then two of us had the chicken pie - delicious proper pie with really crispy pastry. Yum! One of the party had the burger and said it was excellent and one had the fish and chips which looked divine. We shared an apple crumble and chocolate brownie for pudding - didn’t actually need puddings after our huge savouries but apparently it would have been rude not to :). The girls enjoyed a delicious bottle of Marlboro SB at a very reasonable price and very nicely chilled. The boys enjoyed their lagers. We all enjoyed the evening. The bar was busy and buzzy without feeling crowded. The staff are lovely. The atmosphere is great and lively ambience with so many interesting things on the walls.
Next morning we all thoroughly enjoyed a top notch full English breakfast. Top quality. As much toast and extra coffees as we wanted.
Thoroughly delighted to have been recommended this pub to stay in. It was a really fabulous experience and we felt it was top value for money.

Toilets are a disgrace
Dec 2018 • Friends
Nice beers; toilets are an absolute disgrace; truly disgusting! You have to walk trough a disgusting yard where the smokers go and is right next to the bins and the back of the kitchen (I also won’t be ordering food from there either now I know where it comes from!!!)

Hiding from the rain
Mainly as an excuse to hide from the rain, I visited this pub with my girlfriend after a walk around Deal showing her the town. We chose this one as an easy-to-find location on the seafront for our ride home, and as my mother had previously recommend it then it seemed like a good idea.

Inside, the decoration is as a pleasant old-style pub with friendly service and a decent, if predictable, selection of ales at predictable prices - a little above what they are worth but average for the area. The seating area was comfortable, as several small booths located around the corners of the room with wooden booth seating available and, on the evening of our visit, it wasn't too busy. However, it felt like the tables were close enough together for it to be uncomfortable if full.

The food menu looked pretty good, although again with prices a little high. Still, for a pub on the seafront for a quick beer or two in the afternoon it is a pub I would happily go back to. Though, the male bathrooms were annoying to get to in the rain - you have to go through an outside courtyard full of puddles to get to them, and they aren't the cleanest inside either. Otherwise, the pub was an enjoyable experience.

Day at the beach

I love this place! Proper pub B+B right on the sea front. Friendly family vibe. Super lovely staff and owners. Roomy room, very clean with comfy beds and super power shower! Really had a lovely relaxing time. FAB full English in the morning, tasty pub grub with a special Pimms blended mix to drink the rest of the time..

Exceptionally good value with really special Land Lady.

Traveled on my own and was made to feel extremely welcome in this beautiful sea-side historic public house! Deal is wonderful and full of story's of Georgian secrets and smugglers scandals. Highly recommend this for a true sea-side experience.

Local fish and chips delicious as well!

Thanks King's Head! See you again soon I hope.

Oozes character
Would spend more time here if local but visit when in the area. Pub has character in abundance inside and out. Love it. Really nice place for a drink and a chat. Ok selection of drinks. Good outside seating area too.
