    Brutalist Pier along Deal promenade
Deal Pier is a concrete structure along the town's promenade. Since 1838 there have been three piers at the site, the first was destroyed in a storm in 1857, the second pier was severely damaged by a mined Dutch ship in World War II. The current pier was opened in 1957, in 2008 a pier head was installed as well as a new restaurant. We visit the pier quite often and although it hasn't got the old world charm of a Victorian pier it is still a nice sight along the seafront. The pier is of brutalist style and is quite appealing and quirky. It is a great place for a relaxing stroll and to take in the views of the surrounding coastline. It is well worth a visit when in the Deal area.

    We love Deal pier
We love visiting Deal Pier, it’s such an unusual looking pier, it provides a great walk with plenty of seating and great views. There are public toilets at the end, a lovely restaurant and a cute little cafe hut selling hot drinks. Deal is always great when we have visited and it has never disappointed us. If you’re in Deal give it a go!

My uncle is a member of the deal the Deal and walmer Angling Association, and he regularly fishes deal pier. When I am visiting in Kent, I like to get a days fishing in with him. That’s exactly what we did. We arrive just before opening at 08:00 till 17:00. Whilst not a lot of fish were caught I had five dogfish and one strap conger all returned. If you like, Fishing have a day on the Pier.. if you’re in Deal take a stroll along the pier. The strolling is free Fishing is priced per rod. The deal and warmer Angling Association are a friendly bunch of people and if you’re looking for a fishing club to join get in touch. I will without doubt be returning to deal and I will be Fishing the pier. One last thing, the council, staff man, the Pier are a great friendly and welcoming bunch.

    FISHING PEOPLE TAKE PRIORITY.
They may pay for exclusive use of every shelter a long the pier. It was a very beautiful sunny day . But the very strong ,very cold wind meant we had to curtail our rare opportunity to enjoy our promenade . There are strategic shelters along its length but they were all taken over by dishevelled people fishing . Dropping litter ,line and fish guts and oil every where. Can only assume that the pier being free they must pay to take over every bit of shelter going. Ruined our visit. Saviour of the the day . The BEACH HUT. The best ,fresh ice cream EVER ! very friendly service too. Roger ,the cleaning operative of the pier really had his work cut out for him. Will return if I find out how to pay for the right to shelter .

This has to be the worst concrete monstrosity ever built. Soul less and the worst pier in the world. Whoever passed the plans for this to be built should be taken out and shot. Deal is a beautiful town and a great place to live and visit but this lump of innate concrete is a disgrace. I can only imagine what was going on in the planning office for this to get through.

Sadly Deal pier is as interesting as it is ugly. Devoid of character or interest it offers nothing to visitors. Possibly the most unattractive pier I have ever seen. Even a few planters would have helped. To make matters worse the cafe at the end was blasting such loud music it wasn’t even possible to simply sit and enjoy the view in peace.

Took a lovely stroll along the pier, seats all along with sheltered spots. Smooth surface to walk, not planks. At the end is a popular restaurant ( small queue) and a takeaway shack with drinks and snacks. Simple and enjoyable.

As coastal piers go it's pretty basic, but any pier is begging you to walk the length of it and enjoy it for what it's worth.
It was a beautiful day, it's a slow stroll with the Mrs, watch some fish being caught and returned to satisfy another angler next week.
Thought it was an hour lazily spent and enjoyed......

We enjoyed a great lunch overlooking the sea and town . The cafe is located at the end of the pier. We had to queue for 20mins ,that was no problem in the sunshine and the staff were friendly and ensured all precautions were being taken .

Menu was limited but we all found something to our taste. I had the samosa which was delicious , all washed down with a lovely cocktail - well we were on holiday ! Recommended and will visit again

After having lunch in a local pub, me and my family decided to take a walk down the Deal Pier. The pier is lengthy and takes about five minutes to walk from one end to the other. Unfortunately, it was a misty day so we couldn’t see out to France, but it was nice and a pleasant stroll

The view was v special and actually took my breath away. A row of, I think Georgian houses, in pastel colours that went on forever lining a shingle beach. Just stunning, so glad we didn't miss it.

We spent last weekend with our friends from Kingsdown.
On Saturday afternoon we went to Deal. I don’t remember much about Deal from my former teen years, but I’m sure it still carries all its old fashioned charm of a Kentish seaside town. Quaint shops and houses lie comfortably beside new £ shops... more importantly a good range of independent boutiques, artisan bakers and delicatessen and home accessories shops. There is also a good market there in the square. Many cafes and restaurants to choose from and an old fashioned ice cream parlour on the sea front.
Just be warned as we walked down the pier to the end cafe most of Deal shuts by 5! So we missed out on a coffee in a stylish resting place with the English Channel surrounding you! There is also a castle at Deal we didn’t get to visit.
The beaches are pebbles but attractive. No brave soles in the sea today! Well worth a visit if you’re planning a tour of Kent easy access to Sandwich and Dover. There’s definitely a good deal to do in Deal :-)
