Thankfully this was one thing we didn't need to pre-book in the COVID climate; just pick a nice day and turn up. Boats run every half hour or so; we just missed one when we got off the chairlift (worth the ride in itself) so we spent a pleasant 20 minutes having a wander along the stunning beach. We went for the speedboat option. Boat ride was fun, sat at front but didn't get wet, just windswept. Boat stopped at the Needles so plenty of opportunity to take photos. Really good half an hour, worth the price.

Fantastic way to see the needles up close and very good value for money. We were very lucky to see some dolphins on the trip which made the experience very special. Good commentary from the skipper.

Very well organised with a friendly, informative guide/crew member. We took the slower boat with our two dogs. We had great weather for it, really enjoyed it. We queued on the beach for about 20 minutes to get on. People doing the rib tour had a shorter wait.

If at Alum Bay then you must do a boat trip. Choose the 'slow' boat for £7 and get 20-25 mins round trip and plenty of photo opportunities of the sands, cliffs and Needles with a commentary. This boat isn't slow, it's just a normal speed! Or the 'fast' boat is a speed boat and at £12.50 each seems expensive, especially considering you're on it for less time and photo opportunities are significantly harder.

Lovely tour - we were even overflown by a spitfire. Great value, great local knowledge and all done with social distancing
