About
The Rosemary Vineyard shop is now open 5 days a week Tuesday to Saturday. We regret that ,for a number of reasons, we are not able to offer Winery tours at the current time . Visitors are very welcome to come to our Vineyard shop where they can watch a very informative video ,filmed at Rosemary Vineyard ,look around the adjacent Winery and enjoy free tastings. Visitors can also enjoy walking outside in the Vineyard . The Vineleaf Cafe is also open Tuesday- Saturday , with indoor and outside seating , and with a range of light snacks and drinks. For your information long term roadworks begin nearby on 4th October. Access will still be possible to the Vineyard but a one way road system will be in place. Please follow diversion signs as necessary and we will be pleased to welcome you.

Nice business, original wines
Oct 2021
After several trips to some big vineyards in "Wine countries", it's time to visit similar place in "old good England" - thinking about our climate it was difficult to find a better place than Isle of Wight. There are more vineyards on island, however I have decided to pay a visit Rosemary Vineyard as it looked less commercial than som alternatives.
And I was happy with my choice!
It is small vineyard (comparing the ones I visited in Australia, at least), however it has nice family business atmosphere, especially as you can see and touch almost everything there, including a walk between a containers of freshly bottled wines.
I recommend to sit for 10 minutes and watch a video film about making wine and you will also find interesting information related to wine, on some posters. I really liked the "wisdoms of wine", especially what Louis Pasteur said: "Only the first bottle is expensive".

Therefore, I finished my visit by purchasing a few bottles (after tasting, of course) - both red and white. They didn't last long after I returned to Midlands but it was great support for my good memories from Isle of Wight.

Lovely place, excellent gin!
Oct 2021
we came recently for our annual visit, and it was lovely as always. I should say that the main road to the vineyard is currently undergoing roadworks, however the winery is still accessible and open. We started with a coffe and cake in the cafe - both delicious! Enjoyed the views over the vineyards. Enjoyed tasting everything (and always appreciate the fact that they're quite happy for you to try everything without pressuring you to buy anything). Nice shop as well with local produce and gifts. Such a shame that people are complaining about the run down look of the place, especially after a year of such reduced business. Part of the appeal for us is the cottage/farm feel - although the main reason is for the gin! Once you've tasted a mermaid or two, who cares what the place looks like? Thanks again for a lovely morning, see you next year!

What a run down place with rude owners that looks like they haven’t done a day’s work on the place for years.
Was so looking forward to a tour around a proper winery.

Hello Who was rude to you ??? I doubt that you saw the owner and if it was someone in the shop was then why not comment at the time? Frankly we all do our best to welcome and explain things to people but that is not always easy if people have a very aloof and negative attitude . Not saying that you fall into that category !!!!! By the way we do have a proper working Winery .

Isle of Wight Distillery has not been based at the Vineyard for 5 years now and the Vineyard staff can only provide limited information . However we do try to explain about the range of drinks they produce and give free tastings. We do encourage those interested to visit the Distillery which is based at the Mermaid Bar which is only 10 minutes drive away. Sorry that you felt unwelcome - we do value all our visitors and try our best to greet and help everyone enjoy the Vineyard visit.

Needs TLC
Sep 2021 • Family
Sadly, the place is run down. The wineshop badly needs some tlc, as well as the cafe. The tables and chairs were wobbly and glass table had bits of broken glass coming off and what looks to be chicken foot marks.
We felt we wanted to support the place by buying wine, unfortunately this was not enjoyable either.
There is a nice view from the cafe but really needs some investment and care.

Hello I see that our rustic charm was not to your liking !!!! Your comment about the broken glass on the Cafe tables is just simply wrong. Following your review I inspected every table and the issue you refer to is some wear in the glass frosting around the perimeter. Not a sharp edge to be found. No idea about the bird footprints - certainly not a chicken , maybe one of the Isle of Wight,s famous White Tailed Eagles had passed by !!!! It was a pity that you did not like any of our wines - at least you had the opportunity to taste them all for free !!

Run down
Aug 2021 • Couples
Cafe staff didn’t seem to put much care or thought.
Went for a cream tea and although the scones were nice. I had to ask for our tea after 10 minutes of having scone but no tea!
It came out in a cup with the teabag still in. Then had to go back in to ask for milk and sugar.

Great location but needs attention. Looks run down.

the gentleman in the winery itself was friendly

Hello CR Thank you for your review. I am not sure what went wrong that day with the service in the Cafe. You don,t mention if it was very busy at the time ,which on many occasions it was in August . Not an excuse but very likely a factor. We agree that ideally we would have modern, purpose built facilities , new driveway, block paved car park etc . but for the time being we hope that most visitors enjoy the Rosemary Vineyard experience and the rustic charm !!!! Regards

Disappointed
Jul 2021 • Friends
We called in here, as we had seen signage, and really do enjoy ‘local produce’

Parked up ( after the bumpy track ride) went into the shop, which felt a little unloved,

Asked the young lady for tasters of the red and rose ( we didn’t like either) wandered to the cafe, for a cuppa…..

Returned to the shop, to buy a bottle of each of the afore mentioned wines ( hoping that the reason the samples didn’t taste great, were because they had been open a while….. here’s hoping wen we get home!

A nice little place, that feels like it needs loving.

Hello Jes Thank you for the review. We appreciate your comments and hope that you do enjoy the wine that you purchased although buying wine that wasn,t to your taste at the time doesn,t bode well !!!! We do have quite a range of wines that may have been more to your liking, which you could have tasted, and I am sure you will agree that there was no pressure on you to buy anything. Anyway thanks for visiting and hope to see you again in the future. Regards

In a very sad state...
Aug 2021
We were looking forward to a good old vineyard tour, having not been on one for several years. We have traveled Germany, France, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and Portugal to have a go at their local vineyards and wines. The road to the vineyard should have given us early warning signs of what was to come. Almost a kilometer of track which should be included in the Guiness Book of Worldrecords for potholes. It nearly ruined our suspension. Parking is near the vineyard, most of which is now dead wood. A small field of overgrown vines is noticeable about 100 yards away. A nice little tearoom at the side overlooking fields a a pile of rubbish they could not be bothered to clear. Poorly maintained outside of the brewhouse. We were asked if we wanted to watch a (home) video. The man responsible was not particularly interested in trying to explain the process of wine making or cider making. Very limited knowledge on the brewing process and no idea of yeast cultures or of the fermentation process. Most of the brewing and fermentation room was no longer in use. A tractor was parked in the extraction room! Tasting of wines are limited with minute measures of wine or cider which had been open for many days; rank and super sour. No enthusiasm by anyone, and the whole place made me extremely sad. Sad because of the missed opportunities to enthuse about brewing, sad because of the lack of love for making a wonderful product and sad because they had given up on this place. Please let someone take this over and revitalise this beautiful opportunity to motivate guests into purchasing Isle of Wight products which could be made with passion, quality ingredients and pride. None of that was on show here. We left extremely sad by what we had experienced and seen.

Hello Obidos I think that I remember you . Our website and TA page clearly advises that we are unable to offer tours at the present time. Apparently frustrated by this you asked me a number of questions ( ignoring the fact that there were other customers in the shop that I was trying to assist and give tastings to) and then finally started quizzing me on yeast types and fermentation stopping techniques !! Did you ask those same questions in the other countries and vineyards that you visited ??? I suspect not. I thought that I had answered the questions but clearly not to your satisfaction - if I had known it was such a big deal I would have phoned a friend ( the owner and winemaker ) for help !!!!!! The enthusiasm comment is interesting - have you considered that my perceived lack of it could have been a consequence of your arrogant and disdainful attitude. As for the other comments well what can I say . World,s roughest track - hardly , I have encountered far worse on Greek B roads ( whoops I name dropped places that I have visited !!!! ) The tasting issues - why not mention them at the time . The tractor was in the Pressing room for security as we had one stolen 2 years ago and it was just a temporary visitor while being used for site maintenance work. I don,t understand the references to brewing - we do not do brewing at a Vineyard. In conclusion it is good to know that you know more than I do and could do everything better than us. In the mean time we will continue to do our best to give visitors an enjoyable visit and free tasting experience.

Lovely and friendly
Aug 2021 • Family
We visited the vineyard shop on Saturday afternoon. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We were able to try a variety of wine and soft drinks. Everything in the shop was made locally, from the honey to the biscuits. We will definitely visit again. It’s great to be able to support English wines.
