Over the years I have attended many events here; films, live music, vintage sales, model railway exhibitions, etc. The seating is not really that comfortable but doable. However, in the last few years there has been a trend to standing only gigs (obviously to sell more tickets). Many of these are 60s/70s groups or tribute band thereof!

The next one I am intersted in is Dr Feelgood. Bearing in mind they started in the early seventies many fans will be 60 or over! I can not stand for long periods because L4 and L5 have peolasped. So yet again I will not be able to attend.

If my memories of this venue did not go back decades but only a few years it would have been 2*!

Saw a pantomime show with family and young children , of Beauty and Beast. The presentation was satisfactory and nicely done. The hall ,sound effects are satisfactory but the seating is uncomfortable for a long stint. Availability of few snacks and drinks is there too. Overall a satisfactory experience experience.

Seems there will be a new public halls soon in Rothamstead Park. Hope the new build injects some oomph into the organisation running the facility.

They get some really good acts and charge reasonable prices but a recent event was marred by very poor spund management

As far I understand it, the Halls will be demolished towards the end of next year. Let’s hope the new theatre complex is just as good, if not better!

Visited venue with friends to watch a tribute act, was really impressed, the venue is slightly old fashioned and it's not swanky but it does what it's supposed to and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had good seats, we parked easily although I know parking in Harpenden isn't always easy. The venue was busy but we were served quickly enough at the bar and had a great night. Will definitely be visiting again when another show comes to town.

Seating is not the most comfortable I have been in.
Confiscating bottles of water at the door and then being able to purchase bottles of water inside the door appears to be a RIP OFF.

First time visit to the Public Halls for a Blues Festival. Running for 8 hours it needed good planning and a good venue to be successful. The Hall is easy to find just down from rail station and venue was fine. Nice staff. - only moan really was only one man serving at the bar. Good sound good views good day.

This venue puts on great shows from well known entertainers, local film groups and the highly entertaining local musical society. But the seats are uncomfortable, the toilets dated and the bar basic. Only the rear 6/8 seat rows are raked and sound quality depends on what you are seeing and where you are sitting.

The staff appear to do a great job but it must be difficult when there appears to be no signs of likely improvements.

I look forward to the new arts & cultural centre becoming a reality in 2019/20.

Large venue and suitable of lots of different turns. Perhaps lacks sparkle but a good venue for shows and bands. Plenty of free parking and restaurants nearby.

Strange place, the staff are polite enough but it's not great venue for gigs as the sound wasn't the best unless you like that high pitched screech of the feedback
And unless you are down the front band has limited views
The loo reminds me of a church hall and is a bit of a squeeze so not ideal
Tickets were bought online and kept at the box office but the card system was a bit like tickets for a school panto, it would of been nice to of got a confirmation email back rather than crossing my fingers that they were waiting at the ticket office
