A tranquil walk around this lake. So beautiful about the lakes. Many swans and rare birds. Private area with boats for sailing. Lots of areas to sit and meditate. Enjoy the fresh air and beauty. Treat jumping in the lakes.

Fishers Green Sailing Club is nestled in one of the most beautiful settings that you could imagine. Situated in Waltham Abbey, Essex, the 180 acre tree lined Holyfield Lake features tiny islands which is quite rare and makes sailing all the more interesting.
I visited the club as a guest and was made to feel so welcome, one of the sailors, Claire, saw me looking at the map of the lake and overheard me talking about a stretch of it that was not visible from the shore and offered to take me for a tour of the lakes hidden gems on a motor boat, showing me even more parts not visible from the clubhouse. Out on the lake, I had a close up view of the flotilla of sailing dinghies enjoying their Sunday racing around the islands as well as the wildlife on the far shore that is a bird sanctuary.
Youngsters sail on Saturday mornings and in this setting, memories of "Swallows and Amazons" come to mind.
In another inlet, the Model Boat enthusiasts were sailing their radio controlled boats, whilst a classic yacht cruiser, moored near the dinghy park, added to the image of a boating paradise.
A lovely friendly place where visitors and new members are made to feel most welcome and part of the club on their first visit!

Located in the heart of the Lea Valley Park. A must for sailing enthusiasts in unspoilt surroundings. Lots of other local nature to observe, wild life and wild flowers alore.
