I went there for the first time tonight and the food was not upto standard. I told the manageress about this and she did not want to know her response was very rude and she was very jude mental as soon as we walked in i have never been treated in any restaurant in that way before the staff was rude and not helpful in anyway. To the owner of this place i would recommend that you get a new manager as she is an awful one she dose not know how to treat customers. Also none of the staff had covit 19 protective where on which i found very off putting.

Absolutely disgusted with the service, the food and everything in general. The food was undercooked and there was no full description of food on the menu, for example the chicken burger is buttermilk chicken but doesn’t state that on the menu, when asked about the food the waitress/ manager she looked at us with simply NO answer.
Not once did any member of staff come over to our table and ask if the food was ok, and we even tried to get the attention of any member of staff and they just avoided our table for some reason. We even had to go to the bar to ask for the bill.
The attitude of the staff members was utterly appalling and very discriminatory.
Myself and my family never been made to feel so uncomfortable and then for the staff to try and intimidate my family and actually shouted at my whilst I was holding my 3 year old nephew in my arms is disgraceful.
The owner of this place should be very very disappointed in how his/her staff are treating their customers.
Considering it was half price due to the government scheme, I wouldn’t have paid £1 for that food or service if I didn’t have to.

If I could give 0 I would. Appalling experience, rude staff and landlord who had to be held back from punching a customer after having a blaring row with another customer using foul language and intimidation. Me and the other members of our party did not feel comfortable in this environment. We made our feelings known to the staff and landlord to which we were met with ‘good riddance’

Was at this establishment with my father and son on Saturday and the Manager was truly obnoxious. He was abusive to someone who had just ordered some drinks and then proceeded to use profanities in front of all the other customers. He ejected the customer and refused to even let him back in for his coat. I witnessed the whole thing so asked the bar staff what was it all about to which she replied that he was rude to her at the bar which is simply not true. She then went on to say that they were all fed up of people muttering under their breath and she's not putting up wit it which is what prompted the Manager to come out of his kitchen and act in such an appalling way, he was like a wild animal.
I have been a patron of this pub for many years but won't be back until this Manager is removed.

I really like this Pub, even though I know it has recently suffered poor Hygiene ratings I though I would go for a Pint. I was so Surprised to find that the Toilet had two wash basins, both with no running water, no hand soap, no Toilet roll . It did have a sign saying please use wipes, but there were none available! I find this totally unacceptable & disgusting! How does the Pub hope to get good Hygiene ratings. Come on management sort your act out!

We went to to the cricketers great blues band. Wainwright beer had been ok before, but half way through the pint it turned into porridge must have been the bottom of the barrel. My wife took it back and they wouldn't change it, so she bought another bitter that was a rubbish beer. It's all expensive a beer and a red wiine £11. They are very eager to get you out the pub even before the band has finished. Another pub to cross off.

I have had Sunday lunches here, you get what you pay for. I prefer my own cooking. The cook and his family have grandiose ideas, but do not have the stirred fried vegetables, they are very disappointing. At the end of the day this is cheap café food, and I have read the family's comments, I am not an ex-member of staff or an acquaintance, I am capable of my own opinion.

This is a very famous pub in Southend
I went there tonight only to find on arrival
No Food available
No Gin
No Tonic
No Jack Danial's
No Fruit Juices
No Tea
No Coffee
ON CHRISTMAS EVES EVE!!!!!
A terrible dead atmosphere
Maybe 10 people other then our group in the pub.
I could not believe it
We left and went to The Elms in Leigh-on-sea
It was rammed
Great food and drink
Common Cricketers whats going on this used to be a fantastic pub
Seems since you got rid of Club Riga its all gone to pot.
Very sad to see.

The management and staff do not take lightly any criticism. Last night we were barred from this pub for pointing out that they should not lock the fire door before the public had left. The manager denied we were being barred because of that. She told us we were being barred because her staff did not like our attitude. I asked the member of staff for more details and was told, " you never say hello" and you criticised the quality of a pint of beer (a few months earlier)
I thought we were the customers, must have got that wrong somewhere. I am expecting a thorough response to my review, just as well I have broad shoulders. x

After visiting this pub on many occasions for drinks we thought it was about time we tried the food. The menu looked good with lots of homemade options. When the food came out it was a huge disappointment. My homemade soup was in fact out of a can. I do not eat processed food and could tell straight away that it was not homemade. My friends had the burger, another bad choice as this too was not homemade. Instead of the burger being chunky and succulent it was rather rubbery and thin. The service was lacking too. When asked if we could have some mayonnaise the barman/waiter snapped back that he only had one pair of hands.
At the end of the meal he asked if everything was ok. When we replied with the rather negative comments again he snapped back that it was all fresh and then walked off in a huff. It has put me off going there again, even for drinks.

Thank you for your much anticipated review.
The soup that you had was not out of a can, but freshly made that day. All of our food is homemade and we take pride in that.
Nonetheless, you have stated that it was in 'fact' out of a can so I must only assume that you have been rifling through our rubbish bins and have found such evidence? Furthermore, you state very proudly that you do not eat any processed food; in which case why did we clean away an empty bowl if it was processed soup?
You were served by our assistant manager that evening and I highly doubt he was as rude as you have stated. However, if you feel that there was an issue with the service it is better for you surely to first raise it with us at the time or call in at another time? Taking to the internet surely won't help your case.

When your group has spent nearly £100 on a meal and several bottles of wine, why would you think it reasonable to charge a fee for a credit card for a glass of wine. I had no cash and the management there charged a £1 extra - a disgusting way to treat customers.

Been here many many times and paid by card and never been charged a fee. Ever. Perhaps you are mistaken?
