we live locally so we pop down there from time to time. It boasts a sandy beach and it does look like it from photos

The beach is advertised as sandy but in reality it is shingle some looks like it came from a builders yard which is a shame because that actually used to be sand there. The only... read more

The beach is advertised as sandy but in reality it is shingle some looks like it came from a builders yard which is a shame because that actually used to be sand there. The only bit of sand is by the three shells and they have a shower there. But it is only a tiny place not adequate for the... More

Small pebble beach which was pretty busy the couple of times we walked down that way. Great place to sit and eat fish and chips and watch the ships sail past. Signs were up that no dogs were allowed on the beach at that time of the year. Plenty of ice cream shops nearby too.

A small beach that mostly pebbled with some sand; unless one plans to go to Adventure Island or visit the evening entertainment on Marine Parade, it is not worth making a long trip to visit (e.g. from London) but a decent option for those local to the area.

Drove down from london, first visit to this side of the country. The beach is easily accessible thats true, the marine parade parking is bang in front. Its a shingle beach and the water was very dirty. The place was extremely busy too. If you live nearby, okay place to go spend an hour or so or go for a... More

Any town with a beach is just like this. Takeaways everywhere, slot machines, grab a teddy bear machine, fruit machines. The beach is clean but sort of sandy yet full off small stones.

Since its refurbishment city beach is a much more attractive place to visit. Although the attractions along city beach haven't changed, it feels a lot more visitor friendly, with added water fountains and multi coloured lights, children love it. It's a thriving busy part of a seaside town

The actual promenade walk adjacent to the sea is nice for a stroll, but the shops along there are the usual tacky arcades & take-aways. The beach itself isn't sand, but rough bits of shell/debris & rocks, along with washed up sanitary products!!! Being tidal, for 12hrs of the day its empty mud flats which are pretty ugly. Better to... More

The beach is generally kept clean and tidy, if you're local it's nice to visit early in the day or later in the evening when the tourists aren't swarming the place but on a sunny bank holiday it is absolutely packed with people from out of the area. The fountains on the seafront are great for the kids to cool... More

This beach is definitely worth a visit. Plenty of parking along the full length of the marine parade. If not park in the main town car parks and walk down to beach. Plenty of amusements, arcades and shops along the length of the beach area. Children love the water ground shoots, maybe take spare clothing! Recommend this beach.

Just a typical seaside promenade, with lots of food and drink outlets, slots and game machines. The beach is an ok one, just a shame that a number of people ignore the NO DOGS ALLOWED notices so be careful where you sit and walk.
