A stunning Grade 1 listed moated, medieval manor house is just a short walk from Southend on Sea's busy seafront and High Street. The house, gardens and archaeology are captured in time. Stop by the gift shop for a hot drink and a snack before exploring the gardens and feeding the ducks.

Southchurch Hall is a good example of a medieval moated manor house. We visited in July 2016. The house is easy to find and is just about five minutes’ walk from Southend East Station. At the entrance is an exhibition hall/ gift shop that also sells a few snacks, drinks and has a serve-yourself hot drinks machine. At the rear... More

Not a huge park but interesting. A duck pond with some huge Koi carp and about a dozen large Terrapins. A Medieval moated house that is open to the public with period rooms on display.

we live near this hall/park and yet don't visit it often because the park is always dirty and uncared for, with the ponds always full of rubbish and layers of scum, indeed we feel sorry for the ducks and terrapins, also drug addicts and homeless people are always hanging around. not a place to be proud of.

Was married here. Lovely place. Lovely place. Free and quaint and a piece of history in a busy town. Worth a visit by anyone.

This is a very small but interesting museum set in a small park with a lake. The moat could do with some attention which apparently is in the control of Southend Council. The Museum consists of three rooms. A kitchen which is decorated as it would gave been in Tudor times. You go into the main Hall which would have... More

This is FREE which is amazing. Its small but it is lovely grounds with ducks and geese and a lovely herb garden set in the tudor style. It has a gift shop and toilets in the grounds. Sometimes they have a day where they reenact History and you have someone as Henry VIII there and there might be someone with... More
