We stayed one night in Manningtree, just around the corner from the Red Lion so this was the first place we visited & it turned out to be the only one because we were so comfortable we saw no point in moving on. The Red Lion sits on a back street amongst attractive old properties & is an old pub... More

In a village full of pubs and restaurants The Red Lion stands out from them all. Typical "not on the high street" pub with a small fresh bar service area, loads of seating in rooms, a lovely garden area, again with loads of seating. A few things stand out for me other all the others however. It's the only pub... More

Attracted to visit here by previous reviews on Tripadvisor, we arrived around 5pm after a day on the beach at Frinton. What a great pub, good range of Adnams and a couple of local beers. Good decor, nicely done, quite contemporary in a old way, up to date but a lovely old pub. Friendly welcome from the staff and a... More

This is the only pub that I know that caters for customers bringing in take away food. It supplies plates, cutlery and condiments. The beer is always if the best quality and the staff are really friendly. A lovely traditional ale house

Great pub, lots of different people, great decor, clean toilets, staff friendly. Great venue for footie, rugby, etc. Only complaint is that it is always so HOT inside with no ventilation, especially in winter.

Our local since moving here, my boyfriend and I often say how lucky we are to have it. The pub wants to stay with the times so comedy nights (which are genuinely funny and fresh) quiz nights, seasonal events and a good selection of bar nibbles are available. Dog friendly inc a water bowl. If you ever see a white... More

A very nice place to relax and eat a takeaway with friends. I love the mini eggs and open fire. Pretty much the only pub I go to in the area and would only go elsewhere for a pool table

Well what can I say, we popped in for eats. You order your takeaway from the local Chinese , 3 doors away. Collect. Get the plates and forks and spoons from the pub. Job done. You can also an Indian , pizza whatever you want, simple excellent idea . London needs to catch up, with these top boys.

This Pub allows you to eat takeaway meals on the premises on plates and cutlery provided by them at no cost and the bonus is they wash up. Good beer comfortable surroundings must be good.
