About
The Queen's Theatre Hornchurch is a vibrant producing theatre in the London Borough of Havering, serving East London, Essex and beyond since 1953. As a registered charity and the cultural hub of the region, over 200,000 people enjoy the theatre's programme every year, including the best in home-produced theatre, visiting live entertainment and inspiring Learning and Participation projects. Behind the scenes almost all of our sets and costumes are all lovingly created on-site by our highly skilled carpentry workshop, scenic artists and wardrobe department. The Queen's receives regular funding from the London Borough of Havering and is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. This helps us put theatre at the heart of the cultural life of the community we serve.

Visited to see musical show yesterday. Show was very good and the theatre is in my opinion better than the more celebrated , cliffs pavillion . Queens has a much cosier feel which creates a more vibrant atmosphere. However really need to sort out the bar. Main problem seems to be the rate of flow from the beer/lager taps. Took an age to serve individuals and despite queing immediately the interval commenced , we had barely been served by the time we were called back in !

This theatre used to be good and either refunded you or you could bank your money for a future show if they cancelled a show on you and vice versa. Alas that's not the case now. Due to a covid incident my partner and I, obviously, couldn't attend a recent performance and so they decided to keep our money. The two tickets cost a total of £20.00, no great loss for me, but they were really desperate for the money. We were regular customers at this theatre, but we will never be back. Also the hot food is not very good quality and overpriced and prepared by people who don't wear gloves.

Excellent performance, first time attending a Shakespeare play attended to help my daughter with her GCSE so wasn’t expecting to be entertained. The play was amazing, I was shocked at the talented performers, was expecting a very low standard for small local theatre but was blown away with the acting. Will be back

DISAPPOINTED. Attended “Burlesque”. Booked this for my mum and I as a girly night out. What we expected to be a “burlesque extravaganza” turned out to be more like a live amateur soft p.o.r.n act. Was more like a badly put together version of a circus performance. Half of the show was a “dare devil diva” act consisted of a girl laying on a bed of nails and having 3 fake boobs strapped on her chest that she then squeezed to the tune of “Jonathan Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz” . Another act was a woman undressing whilst playing the keyboard. Another act was a woman sat in a huge cocktail glass in a thong and tiny nipple tassels, spinning herself around in it and then squeezing soapy water all over her chest. A male singer who sang about boobs and “willies” and then a god awful magician act by the britains got talent finalist Christian Lee. (Search him on YouTube to get a taster!)
The other half of the show was made up of audience participation which was naff as well and felt like was only done to fill time.
I honestly don’t know what was harder, the theatre seats or all the male pensioners that were watching. What was a sold out performance turned out only 3 quarters full by the second half. People were leaving throughout and not returning. It was an utter waste of £60 and a Sunday Evening.
If anyone is thinking of booking this just note that it is nothing like what you would expect a burlesque show to be and try’s very hard to be politically correct.
Will not be returning for any other performances.

Not having been to the theatre since before lockdown I was very excited to be going to see the show Love Letters. Having read the London reviews it seemed a light hearted, small cast show.
How wrong I was!
Amateur performance, with over acting loud performers. The worse being a guy playing the guitar, abrasive and out of tune. The tickets were £30 each, totally over charged for such a terrible performance. My 4 friends and I stayed until half time. Worst show I have ever seen

First time I've been here in a few years. Quite disappointed with the set up to buy drinks when you arrive. Seemed to be quite disorganised with long queues. No dedicated bar as such but a makeshift sort of arrangement on the ground floor. We were encouraged to buy our drinks at the cafe section but the selection of drinks here was limited so we didn't get what we wanted. The auditorium itself is well maintained and the seats are comfortable. The entertainment - Rhiannan singing Fleetwood Mac was ok in parts but not as professional and good as other tribute bands I have seen. Would have expected a little higher standard performing here.

Kinky Boots - The Musical. This production at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch, is a 'huge-hearted hit of a musical', hilariously high heeled, an ultimate feel-good experience. All the cast are so so brilliant. Go, see, enjoy, laugh, have fun

Everyone loves an Xmas panto and this theatre is a really nice local venue for such shows. This year was Dick Whittington, and it was a nice show with very talented performers, who sang, danced and played instruments. However, the cast was visibly small, with only a handful of members this year. We enjoyed the show and will definitely watch next year’s. Merry Xmas Everyone!

I took the kiddos out for a lovely night at the panto, and BOY was it great. The atmosphere was ELECTRIC! I loved the music and the view, bit shame about the ice cream since it all melted before I even got a chance to eat it. Must of been global warming LOL (I know it's not real, I was only joking (jk))
My cherubs thought the panto was so funny and wanted to go again! (But the rest of my benefits was supposed to be spent on food, not panto tickets!)
I defo recommend, even if you think your kids might be a bit old for it, you won't know unless you try!
I also think the idea of a princess having short hair was fun, made my girlies feel like princesses as they all have short hair.

This was NOT burlesque, more like soft porn strippers. Complete lack of dancing and performance. Female acts relied on being naked for "entertainment".
The "dancers" were looking at eachother whilst performing as some didn't know their own routines! Really poor.
What was supposed to be an evening of wonder, allure and excitement left us with nothing to the imagination and extremely uncomfortable.
We left half way through as the second act is supposed to be even more revealing.
Completely tasteless, unclassy and definitely NOT burlesque.
(Queens theatre venue experience is very good, so do not let this review put you off from seeing other shows. Seats all have good views)
