Please do something about the cyclists at Connaught Water
May 2021 • Solo
Connaught Water used to be a lovely place but it is being ruined by cyclists who are prohibited from cycling around the lake. The signage needs to be better as when you tell
the cyclists that they are not allowed to cycle on the accessible path you are often met with abuse. There are 1000s of acres of cycle paths throughout Epping Forest but so many cyclists choose to cycle on a path meant for disabled visitors putting them in danger especially when they cycle at speed and expect pedestrians to get out of their way. Please cycle elsewhere and leave the accessible path alone so that pedestrians can safely walk around the lake instead of falling over.

In addition visitors need to stop feeding bread to the ducks as it can kill them. There are alternatives including swan and duck food, oats, frozen sweetcorn and defrosted peas.

A beautiful place for everyone
Feb 2021
Epping Forest is a beautiful, huge forest between London and Essex. Perfect for everyone to visit. Suitable shoes/wellies are necessary! For wheelchair or buggy users, I'd recommend the trail at high beech which has suitable paths. My favourite spots are: Connaught Waters, Chingford Plains, High Beech and the Deer Sanctuary. You can get to Epping forest by car (lots of free car parks), tube (using central line) and train (to Chingford).

Trouble Makers
Feb 2021 • Solo
Connaught Water is being ruined by people going there to smoke drugs, people parking in the disabled bays without Blue Badges thereby preventing disabled people from visiting, cyclists cycling around the lake which is not permitted as it is supposed to be accessible for disabled visitors, people allowing their dogs to foul everywhere, people leaving their rubbish behind and people still feeding bread to the waterfowl which is very harmful. Hopefully when parking fees are introduced it might deter some of the people who are treating it like a rubbish tip. It used to be a lovely place but it’s being spoilt by people who go there for the wrong reasons.

Perfect outing to enjoy the outdoors and feel close to nature
The forest is so big that you can walk for hours - we were there three hours or so and loved it. Perfect for kids and dogs.
Wear proper shoes, most of the areas were pretty muddy. Pack a snack/sandwiches because we did not see anywhere selling food.

Brilliant place for walking
Jun 2020 • Friends
First time visiting Epping Forest and it is huge, spread out over a couple of boroughs. We started the High Beach end and generally did a 20K walk. It was lovely being surrounded by nature. Lots of places to sit, chat and eat. Will try and get to other parts of the forest in the near future. Highly recommend.
