Established on the current Clacton site in 1899, and run independently by the West Cliff Trust, the West Cliff is the only surviving purpose-built theatre in Clacton, and plays host to professional touring shows and many local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, dance schools, and other youth groups.

Its compact auditorium with just under 600 seats, a unique atmosphere and knowledgeable and friendly staff make it Clacton's theatre of choice for artistes and audiences alike.

The Stage Door Bar is open both prior to and during the interval for each show, and provides pre-booked meals for selected shows. The lounge may be hired for private functions with or without bar and catering services.

Took a coach party to this lovely little theatre yesterday and enjoyed the dhow; a mix of song and dance, comedic performances etc. The theatre is short walk from Clacton Pier, is staffed by volunteers and needs your support - do pay a visit.

There are two theatres in Clacton: West Cliff and the Princes Theatre. By far the best of the two is West Cliff. Excellent view of the stage, great acoustics and a wide range of performers from Pam Ayres to Think Floyd. Friendly volunteer staff who man the doors etc deserve much credit on keeping the prices down and the house... More

Lovely, restored genuine old-world theatre with solid family values and shows. Staff volunteers friendly, helpful and smiling. Old-world lovely atmosphere, comfy seats. Only problem, seats in neat rows directly behind seat in front! Why, oh why, didn't they stagger each alternate row to allow view of stage between people in front?? Even six inches would have made a difference. Being... More

Apparently the longest continuous running summer show in Britain and it really does have tradition at the heart of it, all good old fashioned fun carried out with professional timing. All carried out in a wonderful old Theatre run by volunteers.Keep up the good work

Two very different shows but put on very well. The lighting and sound is very good and the theatre inside is interesting.Very good... More

Saw The Summer Show here and enjoyed it much more than last year's. Adam Daye is very funny as Dame Edna and he also does ventriloquism. Claudia the contortionist has to be seen to be believed, she is quite painful to watch! There are two good singers, eight glamorous dancers and some cute kids, and they all perform an energetic...
