Went for a whole day with small children. Somehow, even without much hands-on, it keeps them very amused. Does have a magnificent dry garden, as though transplanted from USA/Mexico. Has the traditional stuff too: rose garden, lawns, ponds etc. But take RHS Wisley if you can do only one.

Seeking out an afternoons entertainment, something we have never done before. Google, 'things to do in Essex in a CM postcode'. No idea what to expect just turned up to have a walk. The sat nav, as usual, takes you to back/trades car park !!! Well mine did. A slight detour and we are in. Every member of staff, were... More

With the new management, the gardens are being revamped with new winter walks, improvements to the dry garden and new education and catering facilities. You will need to visit at least every 6 months to watch the changes unfold.

All my family enjoy visiting Hyde Hall from the youngest at 18 months to the eldest in their 60's. Lots to see, places to run around, a great cup of coffee or a meal, we really enjoy Hyde Hall also its many exhibitions that are on too.

The improvements that have already taken place since my last visit, and those currently underway, particularly the vegetable garden (which should be on-stream by late summer 2017) make this an exciting place to visit. The huge pumpkins grown this year (the largest broke the UK record for the heaviest outdoor-grown pumpkin) are a testament not only to the skill of... More

Hyde Hall is home of the record braking pumpkin which was on display, all 1200lbs of it, on the back of a truck. The gardens themselves are divided into a number of zones spread up and over a small hilltop. Even in mid-Octebre there was plenty of colour and plants to see. All garden areas are very well tended and... More

Hyde Hall is one of my favourite gardens to visit, the lovely gardens are always well looked after, and in summer when I usually visit are so colourful, I love them! The Flower show has always been great and this year was even better, so many more stalls with a lovely variety of things to buy!

The gardens are lovely at any time of the year, although, as you would expect, October is not the most colourful time of year. The café was, however, very disappointing as despite a lot of staff being around, it took ages to place an order and even longer for our food to arrive. Admission prices seem much higher than similar... More

A great asset to have in the heart of Essex. Hyde Hall has beautiful grounds and they are constantly working to change/improve them. It doesn't matter what time of year you visit there is always something interesting to see and there is often a special event on. We have been several times and whenever we are there you see people... More
