About

We care for a variety of animals including horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs etc. and more exotic animals such as reptiles, parrots and other aviary birds, raccoons and many more. As a small charity, Hopefield relies upon donations and support from volunteers to be able to continue this work. It is with thanks to the continued support of volunteers and supporters that we have been able to achieve our aims thus far. We took our 2 and 6 year old grandsons to visit recently and their excitement at seeing all the animals was wonderful to see.
The sactuary is the perfect place for a visit with children (and adults) and there is a large picnic area as well as the cafe.
All the animals are lovingly cared for and a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who give them a safe home often after a traumatic time.
We booked the tickets on line and when we arrived to be checked in we were greeted by a lovely lady who was assisted by a gorgeous cat who was curled up on her lap.
There are so many different breeds of animals we will have to go again in case we missed any.

I never knew about this place before I came I’d never heard of it but wanted a day out and found this little gem , we went on a rainy day but still had a good time there is a wide variety to f animals some of which I’d never seen before my son enjoyed himself we all did for that matter.
The cafe is a vegan cafe so you won’t find no meat produce even the milk is soy etc but that didn’t phase us meat eaters the coffee was actually really nice and we didn’t get food.
Really do recommend it’s a lovely little day out if your looking for something to do ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My husband and I visited the sanctuary and we had an absolute blast. For £6 we found it reasonably priced and so many animals to see. A stop at the shop on the way out where you can pick up a pack to sponsor an animal (we picked Peter Pan the Shetland Pony). Thank you to all staff and volunteers that make this a truly great place for all ages to enjoy. Only trick you’re missing right now is closing the cafe at 13:00 as you’re missing the trade on the way out of people who like a coffee and cake to finish the day for the journey home (understand this may be due to Corona etc). Absolutely fabulous day! Thank you!!!

What an amazing sanctuary, me and my partner were visiting from the New Forest and attended it with whilst visiting family in Essex.

The animals were well kept and looked very content, we were so glad they've all ended up in such a lovely environment with such caring and knowledgeable staff.

A big bonus was the 100% vegan cafe, because why would you do harm to any animal? Friends not food.

I Visited hopefield today with my husband and 8 year old a son which was the first time since it reopened following lockdown due to Covid 19. It was so lovely to be back !!
They have worked so hard to make it ready for reopening with one way systems , expanded pathways to see the horses , a Marquee to sit and eat food from the cafe .
We thoroughly enjoyed our day and loved seeing all the animals from the horses , ponies, Alpacas , Pigs, birds, cats , rabbits and plenty more .
We have always loved Hopefield and the passion the founders and staff/volunteers have for the animals . It has a special place in our hearts .
What an amazing peaceful place these animals now have after their abusive pasts. It makes me so happy to see them with a lovely happy ending that is Hopefield .
Please visit and support such a worthwhile cause. They continue to need your support through these difficult Times and it’s a wonderful trip for the whole family .
I highly recommend it !!

Hopefield is a great place to visit. I took my teenage daughter and she loved it! I hadn't been here for a while but since there has been so much done to improve the grounds and increase the number of rescued animals, many with great characters. The place is suitable for all, and there were many different age groups attending. The site has been made up perfectly for the COVID-19 situation with clear signs and plenty of space for people to spread out and there's also a great picnic area with a mobile café. Definitely recommended as a morning /afternoon out and hopefully you will be as impressed as we were and on top of the low entry fee offer a donation on your way out to such a worthy cause

A lovely morning out with my 3 children. All of them thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the rescue animals. A family ticket pre booked online was extremely good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and the toilets were kept in good clean order. We shall certainly visit again.

Friendly small group of staff looking to improve the lives of the animals in their care. Good sizes car park close to the entrance. During Covid-19 social distancing has been carried out very well with more than enough sanitation stations dotted about. Animals are well cared for and it looks like the welfare of the animals is high on the list of priorities. Well laid out areas and well thought through viewing with enough places for animals to hide if they wish. Equally tranquil for my partner and me to walk round without interruption. My first visit and already looking to go back. For £6 per person, it was money very well spent. Well done guys.

Very reasonably priced about £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for kids. Plus you help to fund the sanctuary by going. Lodes of parking for free. A lovely variety of animals to see. Donkeys Horses, Pigs, Cows, Bulls,Lizards and Snakes, plus Birds. Great if you want to see a few animals but don't want the fuss of going to a big Zoo. You can see it all in a couple of hours and stop off at the Coffee shop and have a home made cake or two. Great for Granny and Granddad too, as there are lots of park benches to sit on. Plus it is sponsored by our very own Leona Lewis from Romford.

We went on Tuesday and it was a really lovely day. They have put a lot of thought and effort in to Covid precautions. We booked the first session, arriving as 2 family groups where we had our temperature taken. There was clear one way signage, it was all clean and well kept. Numbers were limited and felt right. New toilets were reassuring and BIG improvement. New picnic area, not now for play, had lots of tables so great for our lunch. Cafe as good as ever. A few animals were out of bounds because of Covid but there were lots of animals to see, stroke and learn about. The ponies, donkeys and other animals (especially raccoons and sphinx cat!) seemed more keen to come over to see us than our previous visits so maybe they are glad lockdown is over too!! I would highly recommend for young children, older ones and adults - all of which our 2 family groups were. We will return soon. Do book to support this little, very well run sanctuary!
